Random, Thoughts, X,XXIV

The little things: Once, I left my next in line spot with the cashier to return an item that I decided I did not want to purchase. An employee saw me and took the item to return it to it's rightful place. I went back to the checkout line. The woman who had been behind me bade me take my former place in the queue. The person who had just lined up behind her exclaimed, "Oh, h*ll no! He can get in the back of the line!" The kind woman tried to explain, but the other woman shook her head, then said out of the side of her mouth, "Do you see what he's wearing?" [a Tennessee hat] The kind woman was flabbergasted. I offered aloud that it was OK, I would join the end of the queue. After I completed my checkout, I found the kind woman waiting at the exit. We walked out into the parking lot together. She expressed her discomfort with the other woman's behavior. I demurred and thanked her for her consideration. As we broke to go to our separate cars, she told me that her daughter was enrolled at Georgia and that I was a fine representative of my alma mater. I smiled and wished her a good day.

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and dog gone it people like me".
