Yes, my motherās cat* put her in the hospital twice with sepsis (cat-scratch fever spread through her body.) It usually takes at least 24 hours for it to really get going though.Family friend had to go to ER from cat attack on her foot. Neighborhood stray she was feeding flipped out and attacked. Is this common? Never heard of a cat attack.
Just tack on another reason why I despise catsYes, my motherās cat* put her in the hospital twice with sepsis (cat-scratch fever spread through her body.) It usually takes at least 24 hours for it to really get going though.
If the attack just happened, and there hasnāt been time for bacteria to take off, Iād guess that it was more like tendon or nerve or blood vessel damage, so trauma instead of infection (yet.)
Even if not that, I wouldnāt be surprised if they pumped her up with just-in-case fancy antibiotics, etc.
Hope she heals up quickly and fully!

Had it once from my brotherās cat on a bite to my ankle. I worked at a doctorās office at the time and didnāt think much about it at the time. I felt like crap the next day at work and asked the PA to look at it. It was red and swollen by then, but the PA cleaned it and said I was good to go. By mid afternoon I started running a fever and went home still feeling like crap and laid down on the couch. I donāt remember much after that. I only remember what my mom told me. Dad and mom came over to check on me when I didnāt answer the phone and found me burning up with fever and out of it. They took me to Park Westās emergency department. They did what they did and thankfully they did. I had the red line running up my full leg length.Look out for cat scratch fever.

She got some antibiotics and a tetanus shot. I'm not sure if she's on any maintenance meds, but the way she described bleeding either she's on blood thinners or that cat ripped her foot apart. Sounds like she's recovering nicely. I'm definitely not turning my back on any visiting cats.Yes, my motherās cat* put her in the hospital twice with sepsis (cat-scratch fever spread through her body.) Feral cats, and others whoāve been abused or had to survive on their own (like my momās cat before she was originally surrendered to Shelby County Humane Society), can be really unpredictable. Cats are both predators and prey, so theyāre usually believers in āthe best defense is a good offense.āShe got some antibiotics and a tetanus shot.
