Once, at my old home in Dekalb County (3 residences ago), a red shouldered hawk missed diving on a bird in the yard and came to perch on a tree branch just below the one on which a gray squirrel was hunched against the trunk. That was an interesting dilemma for the squirrel. It survived the encounter unscathed.
