@WestTennesseeFox, I was sorting some of my father's letters and offer you this snippet from October 1, 1945 -

This old town (Memphis) has scads of the cutest debs you ever saw. Fact is they ride around in nice big cars just outside the gate every evening looking for pilots to take to their gatherings. They've even resorted to whistling. The funny part about the whole affair is that they're really nice kids, and you can't get to first base without signing on the dotted line and saying, I do. I know because I've succumbed to their whistles.
