Did you see feathersax’s post about his generator? Have you ever tried one?

Our power is surprisingly stable, but if we could be somewhat prepared for <$1,000, I could see getting one. If we lost power the day after a Costco run, we could easily lose that in meat in the itty-bitty freezer.
It's in the near future. Getting the switch over installed this spring. Will run ours off LP.

Don’t have a natural gas connection for your furnaces?
We need electricity to blow the gas furnace-heated air around. Prob to turn the furnace on and off, I dunno; definitely to make the thermostat work.
It's not the furnace I'm worried about. Those take lectric. I have 3 freezers I'm concerned about.

Installed natural gas home backup generator (some with automatic kick in upon power failure) - quick search saw prices starting at $1700 (depends upon size of house and power needs).

And what if the power outage is widespread and the grid sending out the gas is electric?

So you’re saying natural gas has to be pumped into the system like water? The natural pressure of natural gas won’t force it through the system?

Wonder why the trans folks only want to compete in women's sports? I don't think I have seen any competing in men's events. Couldn't the sanctioning bodies start up a trans category and leave the others alone?

So they can win. What you said is the best solution, have a competition for them. I don't care what someone wants to identify as, but it's unfair to girls for guys to get to compete against them and dominate. I've watched videos of girls heartbroken because they'd worked so hard, just for some guy to steal it because he doesn't want to compete against men. Watch interviews with the girls who had to share a locker room with that guy swimmer. How he would make comments, and walk around with an erection. News won't show that, you have to find them on podcasts, it's sickening to hear the stuff he did. My two cents anyway

I think it probably varies by company/location.
The people I've talked to here went with LP because it could be prepaid and put into a tank for the generator, independent of any delivery system failure during a severe outage.
I mean it stands to reason that the delivery system would also have a "backup," I suppose. But the people sending out the natural gas would require a way to know how much was being sent out to each customer.
We have a 250 gallon LP tank, but the only thing using it is the water heater. We have a gas heater but never use it, because it is in a part of the house we do not use often.
I love the propane water heater until it's time to fill the tank $$$$$$ haha
