Erm. Well, to be a Ranger you need to be 11B, the other MOS' i list after can, but can't...SF is different, they take candidates from every MOS, but IMHO to have a puncher's chance you need to be 11B, 13F, or 19D.

11B is light infantry, 13F is fire support, and 19D is Cavalry Scout (my job). With those jobs you'll spend lots of training time as a bush bunny, using your map and compass, setting up hasty fighting positions, and dismantling them, etc.

So you can try out for SF as a truck driver or medic, but your day to day life in those jobs won't help you at selection.
