Whitney is a cutie, but she gets on my nerves with the "little ole me" routine. I thought her cupcake looked awesome though, even though I hate coconut.

I don't see the "little ole me" thing, but maybe I just don't pay attention. Like Joe said, her cupcake was "smart".

And I don't like coconut either.

Anyway, it's a good show and way better produced than Top Chef. I quit watching Top Chef several months ago.

I never saw Top Chef, but I usually watch Hell's Kitchen and I like Master Chef. Question for you Behr... Why is it, that almost every contestant I see on Hell's Kitchen, smokes? Is that common amongst chefs?

Yeah, I answered that for VIF not long ago. It's just more of a industry thing and lifestyle. Restaurant people work long stressful hours, and the busiest times are at night. They get off work late at night (or early in the morning) with not much to do but drink, smoke and sit around with co-workers "talking shop".

If you get bored sometime and want to read some funny stuff from people in the industry, try "bitterwaitress.com". Some good stuff in there.

I'll check it out. I would think that line of work would be very exhausting.

Sorry, I didn't see your post to VIF, but I always wondered about that. It's kind of interesting, because I used to smoke, and I know it distorts your sense of taste. Odd.

Oh, no problem, I just thought it was funny that he asked the same thing.

The "smoking Chef" is hard to explain. Although taste is obviously the most important, it's not the only talent a good Chef needs to posses. And I also think people forget, a "smoking Chef" can still taste. A good Chef knows that the sweetness of coconut combined with the sourness of lemon will work nice on a cupcake, and should know how much of each to use without having to taste it. Like a good bartender making a Margarita.

Hope that makes sense, if only a little. It's hard for me to type an explanation on this without writing a small book. Haha.
