That's a lot of freight. I was just curious. Two companies I worked from did a lot of business outside the country. One was no big deal as we shipped via PO or other and they loaded the containers. At the other company, the containers were dropped outside our bay doors and the folks in the production area would load the containers. I'd get a call in the middle of the night several nights a month on those things.

We usually don't have any problems with anything coming in on containers. Now air freight is another story. We usually have at least 1 pallet every delivery that has been turned over or looks like it's been through a crash derby. The air lines tend to loose a pallet or 2 from time to time.

Amazing, isn't it that an entire pallet comes up missing. At the one company with small packages, we sold and shipped approx. 20000 items a day. We used all the carriers-PO, Fed Ex, UPS, etc. except DHL. There was a small percentage of loss by each carrier. And, sometimes theft. I got a call from the Maryville police, one day, wanting me to come ID some products from a sting operation at the local PO office.

Yeah, and most of the time once they finally find it and we get it it is damaged. We have probably filed over $50,000.00 in claims just with Delta this year. You would think that after the first couple of claims that it would have opened a few eyes.

Were your packages used to move something or had they just been stolen? One of the carriers here had a package that had drugs in it. The FBI borught thier dogs in and found it. They actually had an agent act as the driver but the warehouse where he was supposed to deliver it was vacant.

TEX and I talked about that a few days ago. There are numerous places out here where, at night, you see nothing but sky and a zillion stars. No city lights, car lights, street lights, etc. Completely dark, except for the stars or moon. It's hard to find a place like that in the East.

Plus based on the picture Sly took its a pretty popular alien family vacation spot.

We sold jewelry and gemstones. Our name was on the outside of the package, so it was obvious to anyone what could be inside. Product prices ranged from a couple of dollars to $ 1.5m for our most expensive item. Many of ours were probably stolen. I think the highest value for a single "lost" item was around $5K.

Absolutely. They love the wide open spaces. I think the Utah landscape reminds them of home. I did take this pic. It's outside of Moab UT.

A friend of mine lives a couple of blocks from Duke campus in a pretty nice neighborhood. The house next door was being rented by 6 or 7 Duke students. His wife comes home one day and Swat team is in their backyard. Cops had intercepted 20 lbs of weed being shipped to the house via DHL.
