I'm crazy protective. When I have lil boys I'll be fine and laid back. If I have a lil girl though, may God have mercy on her soul

That's what my story is about. A man letting his 10ish year old daughter stand under the branch on which a black bear was feeding. The bear became spooked and headed down the tree right towards where we were all standing. I turned and got in my car while the man and his daughter chased the bear up an embankment (to get pics). I was yelling for them to stop (the little girl was mere feet from the bear). I was terrified for her but dad wasn't even a little worried.

I've seen it in the past in Cades Cove numerous times. 15-20 people with kids in a field taking pictures of a bear 20 feet away. Granted, bears typically shy away from people, but too many examples of the opposite this year. Telephoto lens much cheaper than a life. This can do some damage.

Doesn't mean they deserve to be "eaten" or whatever you said. You'd be surprised how many people think "wild animals" are ok to be around..."It's just a black bear it won't hurt you" b.s.

That's where I was today. I have seen it on numerous occasions. This was a young bear maybe 2-3 years but he could still have done damage to me...much less that little girl. I shudder to think. Urgh...
