Thanks. Looks like a good spot to just sit and think. I know two people who were disappointed because they only hiked about 700 miles of the trail. Geeesh. That's a long hike to me.

It is. Hiked it once in the middle of winter. Just me and the dog. The wind would blow and all the trees would creak and groan. Very surreal, creepy and cool.

Bucket list to hike the whole thing. One of the thing I love about where I live is that the AT is only 5 minutes away.

Make sure it's a model 5906 with extended clips. The others are a POS, IMO.

Pretty up in there. I could never make it all the way. I hiked some of the Pacific Crest Trail when I lived in Cali. It, too, was 5 miles from my house. Nice, too.
