I've seen that show before. I noticed that the host talked with a twang and wondered where he was from!!

Damn, Grizz, where did you see it? I thought it was a local show in Cali. I like him. He breaks things down to an elementary level where anyone can understand what's going on. I'd love to have a copy of the series. It was fun watching the shows and then driving to where he was talking about and seeing it in person. Sort of like a Western version of the Heartland Series on the Southeast.

I liked the high plains for that reason, once you were outside of the interstate corridor, all that's missing are the buffalo and the Cheyenne. Still feels pure, and unforced.

I drive up the old highway into Idaho sometimes. There's one place I always stop and just spend some time. It overlooks the place where the Bear River Massacre took place. At the Boa Ogoi. Only about a hundred miles north of here at the confluence of the Bear River and Beaver Creek. It's pretty sad, IMO.

That is sad. Much like many of the other "Victories " of the indian wars. Women and children.

I don't know, at some point in the 19th Century progress became what was actually regression.

Yeah. For anyone reading the actual history of that period, we really ****ed them badly. From killing them directly, to killing off their food supply and giving them the gift of small pox infested blankets.

The Iroquois could've likely wiped out all settlement early on, if they chose. But they erred in thinking the Europeans were negotiating in good faith. Same as the Sioux treaty of 1868 and all the others. They took our word at face value. Sad.

Ever see the show "real west" hosted by Kenny Rogers? The intro as a quote from a chief, its sad but fitting. Can't remember details.

No, didn't see it. Buddy and I talk about it frequently especially living out here. Native Americans were fairly peaceful and naive to our ways. I won't go into any detail, but we did a lot of set ups to try, and did, put them in a bad light. Seems to be our heritage through present day, to me anyway, in some cases. I think we've done some nasty things that we may never know about.

I wouldn't doubt it, too bad things occurred as they did, but vastly different cultures don't tend to make good neighbors.

Played a 9 hole course in Idaho today that was way off the beating path. The drive through, the golf and the burgers were well worth the trip. Blue sky, some beautiful white puffy clouds and 86 degrees. Humidity was around 35% causing some uncomfortable sweating of the brow.

Looks awesome , but those fairways look pretty hairy.

The fairways were in good shape but you didn't have a lot of room for error if you missed the edge of one. There are two good sized streams that crisscross 6 of the holes. Streams are about 10+ feet wide with high bull rush growing on both sides. Couple of par 5' @ 550 yds. +. Because of the up and down terrain in that area, I wouldn't be able to walk this course if I had all day. Some of the greens were a little rough in areas. Fun course, nice scenery and worth the drive, especially when you throw in some excellent hamburgers and fries.
