First show since Northern Exposure that I'll purchase DVD box set. I had always wondered what the impetus of the Southern accent was. Was absolutely floored to hear it started after the Civil War.

I wish they would go into more detail about Upstate NY vs. downstate, though. Even CT vs. Long Islang given the proximity.
Central CT imo has one of the most neutral accents in the country. Amazing with very strong accents if you go 60 miles in any direction.

Show overall is a great source of subtle facts that are amazingly obvious if you'd put 2+2 together.

The segment about air conditioning and the population shift was eye opening. Hadn't thought of it.

only one i've seen is about ohio and toledo, and about how a fort in vermont is really in canada, eh?
 
Most of the shows on History are crap but this one almost makes up for them. Best show they've had since the show with the two guys who used to visit odd places in The US. Can't remember the name. Time to research....
 
About to suffer through today to get my sleep schedule turned back around. Other than that, I think I'll buy a hat.
