Doesn't this make you want to move to West Texas? Lulz

If you make it, holler at me.

The plan was to go explore this year, but through the ins and outs of life, summer snuck right up on us. I really enjoyed the time I spent around Cheyenne, I suppose its more badlands than plains topography wise.

Its a great place, the Mountain West overall is great, really. I've looked at Boise as a landing area before, it seems nice

Wyoming has a lot of wide open spaces. Gotta stay away from the cities. First place I've ever seen 12' tall snow fences.

I hear they have some roads up there that have no speed limit.

State trooper told me otherwise. There may be some but I-80 ain't one. Got a ticket back in 2008 for going 120 mph. It was posted 80 mph and absolutely in the middle of nowhere. It was 30 miles between exits. I have no idea where he came from.

The speed limits on the roads out West are just ridiculous. You're on a two lane or a four lane that runs straight for a hundred miles and the limit is 55 or 65. Interstates in Utah are either 65, 75 or 80 in most places. I understand that some get lulled to sleep on the long stretches, but most don't. When you're in the middle of nowhere and your vision is several hundred miles of straight road, it might as well be unlimited mph.

Perhaps a slow down zone for ± 2 miles near exits and onramps. I 70 and I 80 across the plains are ridiculously slow going.

I can see a slow down in those areas anywhere. Most places I drive on the freeways out here don't have that because of the sparse population. That might be the biggest draw of the West and Southwest to some extent. SW Tejas is sparse and most of San Berdoo County in Cali. Most of Utah is sparse when you get away from the north/south corridor of I 15. The places I go in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming for the most part are lower pop areas. Except for Bozeman. I wish the pop there would go away.

I hear that Californians are killing Montana.

How? By moving in and jacking up the land/real estate values? That's all I know about by some friends who live there. A lot of rich people are moving in to and around Bozeman and making it unbearable for the people who live there. Housing prices and rents are through the roof.

Albequerque to OK City is the worst I've ever done. You need a line of coke every 100 miles.

Kansas is pretty awful wire to wire as well. But for my money, NYS Thruway from Buffalo to the Mass line on my way home from Sault Ste Marie is a hell stretch.
