You're supposed to set the hook before they swallow the hook. You must be letting the line get too loose.

Never heard of boiled peanuts, only roasted...

Imagine the good of peanuts (crunchy or creamy) then mix that together and turn them mushy and slimy. Voilà boiled peanuts. Hopefully they've soaked in some road side pot for a few days so you feel extra warm and fuzzy about em.

IMO boiled peanuts are the only bad peanuts
