Iron Man is the coolest, but unless he incorporated Kryptonite into his weapons systems, Superman would whip his ass. That's the reason I've never been a big Superman fan. Too damn powerful. Technically, he should be able to defeat most enemies with a sneeze. Boring, IMO.

Flaws give characters life. The fantastical side of a character can be cool, but it's the human side that acts as the hook. The reason Spider-Man was cool was that when he took off the mask he was nerdy Peter Parker with real world problems. The best thing they did for Iron Man was make Tony Stark an alcoholic. For most of us, it's hard to relate to a brilliant billionaire playboy, but when they gave him problems that any man could face, his whole character changed.
