Preach

At a minimum, if they play 4 years, there should be something for them on the backside of the deal.

At least life long health coverage for any of the injuries they suffered while making bank for the university.

I've been one of Randolph's biggest supporters on this forum and was baffled as to why he wasn't drafted. Maybe the doctors knew there was something amiss with this knee. Terrible break for this young man - best wishes on a complete recovery.

Based off of his combine numbers he seemed like one of those guys that would make a team similar to Justin Coleman.... hate to see this happen

Thats really tough. I sure was pulling for him. I felt like he could make the 53 man roster.

I know this shouldn't matter but it matters to me. I was at a UT football camp with my son and my little girls who was about 5 at the time was walking around the entrance of the stadium and Brian walked over to her and picked her up..... She looked at me half scared to death and I said its ok baby he just wants to play catch with you. He put her down and softly tossed the ball back and forth with her for a few minutes... Since that point he has been one of my favorite UT players and always will be. Please save the cool story bro comments....

You should write him a note. Encourage him. Let him know he's in your thoughts and prayers. Share with him what you shared here.
He's got to be struggling with this injury and any "pick me up" would elevate his morale.

A real shame. A good kid and a guy who deserved to make a roster. I hope he can fight back and be ready for training camp somewhere next year.

Like a free education or something?

Agree... and if a guy can't or does not want the education, and there are many of them, let them go to a lessor pro league like arena football or cfl or start a minor league like baseball has. Then they get paid and would have other benefits.

Guys like Brian Randolph and Marcus Lattimore are why FBS football players should receive more than just a scholarship for the millions they generate for their programs. In what other context do we allow underage workers to repeatedly risk their health and future earning capacity for little more than our amusement?

Free education, free room and board, opportunity to be seen on the big stage and showcase their talent. Also. If that's the case they are being watched in high school as well. Should we pay them then also?

The time and effort put in to football for players, after classes, after exams, and then playing games that puts money Back into the school and the classes and the professors that teach them. How is that a free education? Sounds like they are working for it to me, maybe I'm crazy.

Did he have a contract? Will he be paid for this year? I am not sure how this type of situation works.

Free tuition, free housing, free food, free athletic gear, free tutoring, free access to world class facilities, free high level athletic coaching, free travel, bowl gifts...ya it's really slave labor.
