Ramar is Starting...

Starting Ramar helps in a number of ways. Ramar and JP were coming off the bench around the same time. Meaning about five minutes into the ball game we had Ramar/JP/Lofton or Ramar/JP/J. Smith. The problem with that is that we dont have enough 3-point shooters to spread the defense out with that group of guards. Now, Ramar starts along with 2 great shooters. Then when JP comes in we bring in Howell shortly after that. Then we have Howell/JP/Lofton or Howell/JP/J. Smith on the floor and again we have two 3-point threats and the defense has to spread out. Its all about giving Ramar and JP room to penetrate with 2 other good shooters on the floor. That is what I like most about the move. Plus Ramar has just flat out earned it.

Ramar Smith forges lineup : Men's Basketball : GoVolsXtra.com

Tennessee sophomore Ramar Smith never said a word about regaining the starting point guard position.
But the senior point guard Jordan Howell did.

"I talked to Jordan, and he said, 'Coach, if you didn't do it, I was going to come to you,' '' said Pearl who moved Smith back into the starting lineup for UT's 85-69 victory over Georgia Saturday night. "Ro (Smith) hasn't said a word.''
