You don't tell the world that you have an ultimatum set for your quarterback. Not exactly a way to instill confidence in your quarterback, which the quarterback in this case probably needs.

I don't disagree that there SHOULD be an ultimatum, but there SHOULD NOT be a public ultimatum.
