I walked on as an Oregon State running back, to give the poor Beavs a shot at winning the Pac-10. I will walk on as a Tennessee MLB after I finish my first season.

I had to walk-on to UT. I got an offer from Purdue, UTEP, & I forgot the other one. I may end up redoing my race as a RB and go to another school that offer a full ride.

I think I will redo mine; The better you do in the drills, the higher your stats are. I was still getting accustomed to playing football on the XBox. My copy of Madden '05 was for PS2.

:D I just had a silly, but very fun idea.

I am going to start a heisman season with none other than....

THE BILL-DOZER!!!!!!

Number 72, William Dauterive. :rocks:

I am heading into the LSU game in my RFTH. I am a scrambling QB but I never have really mastered the option. I am thinking of starting over and making myself a running back. That might be more fun.

Smokey, you should start a poll to see what position everyone is picking. I'll be it's mostly QB.

I started as a scrambling QB too. I am okay with the option, but I usually just load up one side with WR's, wait for them to clear out and take off running. I'm getting good numbers with it too.

I will have to try that.

I actually think some of the practice drills are pretty fun.

I must be stupid because I never have had to much luck with it. My QB always seems to have a guy in is face before I can get to the corner, then I pitch it and the RB gets caught behind the line. I suppose I need to run the practice drills or recognize which defenses it works well against.

Also, I beat LSU late last night by 10. I was killing them in the first half but they came back as I couldn't seem to get anything going in the second half.

I think 06 is bugged as bad as the other EA football games... if you play as the Vols, its darn near impossible to lose. My RB got an offer from OU, but of course I walked on to UT. He's already got over 1,200 yards and 23 TD, and wiped the floor with South Carolina last night... I think I'm outscoring opponents 250something- 20something... he's currently 3rd on the Hypeman board.

Am I missing something, or is there a way to make the game more challenging?

You can up the level to All American or Heisman. You can also adjust the AI sliders to make them more difficult. I am not in front of my TV so I can't tell you exactly how to do that now.

Thanks freaky. Does it default to Rookie or something? :D I'll probably finish out this season, then bump it a couple of notches.

There are four levels:

Junior Varsity, Varsity, All-American, Heisman

The game defaults at Varsity. Junior Varsity is a turkey shoot and meant only for people who have never played before. Varsity is a good step up. It usually provides maybe a smidge of challenge, but any decent player should be winning evenly matched games by 4 TD's. All-American is very challening. The AI for the other team is smart, and you have little room to make mistakes, i.e. throwing into coverage will get you picked off 70% of the time. And Heisman is just ridiculous.

Freak -- You just gotta practice with the option to get it down. Usually it's best to run when you're pretty sure you won't get a hardcore rush thrown at you. Make sure you've got room to run. Don't pitch it off the bat, your runningback should follow you at good distance. The linebackers or corners will usually sniff this out, and once you can get them to commit to the tackle, pitch it at the last second and your running back should be open most of the time.

I am a RB with Georgia(Boise State and WVU were the other 2 offering schools.)

The Bulldogs are currently 6-0 with a 4-0 record in the SEC, I have 1,194 yards with a 9.1 YPC, 8 rushing TD's and 2 receiving TD's.

The SEC is pretty bad in the game, the SEC East standings are:

Georgia 6-0
Florida 5-2
Vanderbilt 4-3
South Carolina 3-3
Tennessee 2-3
Kentucky 1-5

In the West, Auburn with a 5-2 record is top in the standings, so outside of Georgia, a 2 loss team already(half way through the season), is the best the SEC offers.

I'm 4th in the Heisman voting currently, Matt Leinart leads all. I have Arkansas next and then the world's biggest cocktail party as I trvel to Gainesville.

I love the option.

I play on all-american and I'm racking in nearly 200 yards a game, once my QB breaks free of the line I wait for someone to drill my QB and then pitch to the RB, 20 yards or so each time.

Yep. Such is the wonder of the option. If your guys are rated high enough and you know how to do it, running option makes you unbeatable.

#23
#23
are you running the option with Tennessee and Tennessee's playbook?

#24
#24
I have, but I don't like to. It usually requires a QB with a decent amount of speed. I like running options with Texas A&M and Nebraska the most.

But, the fact that Gerald Riggs is the most well-rounded runner in the game, a great combo of speed and power, it makes running the option alright. You will just not get that far with Ainge and will have to pitch it most the time, though.
