I got the RROD tonight... It started freezing and all kinds of stuff, so I thought I was SOL because it's out of the normal warranty. Thankfully, though, I got the RROD and that has an extended warranty.

Dont feel bad, my xbox died and i rented one and it died as well, piss ant microsoft technology. I hate it and love it at the same time. More beer and off to bed

just got the RROD this weekend. it was a launch system, so i was pretty impressed that it lasted that long. the service call to "Alecia" went surprisingly well too, easy directions and easy process. i just hope this is the last time i go through it.

Ugh... now the red rings won't even show up. I can hear everything on the tv, but I believe the video chip or whatever is damaged and that's the hardware failure. Will they still accept it as a RROD if the rings don't flash anymore? I have a picture of the RROD on my phone...

You should call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and see. I expect so. One of the major issues that causes the RROD is where the GPU gets so hot the solder remelts and you lose the BGA connections. That's why the towel trick works sometimes...

Just of note, the Xbox rep told me that microsoft has extended the "free repairs" for hardware failure until 2009.

I should have my xbox sometime this week. I sent the xbox two fridays ago and called last friday and they said it had been repaired and shipped already. Looks like they weren't very busy. My system was a launch model as well so I was pretty pleased it lasted so long.

yup just got the 360 back yesterday. Works great! it is good to have my baby back :wub:
