passed away at the age of 50.

Furnas was a power lifter for The University of Tennessee, where he still holds the record for men’s collegiate squat and dead-lift.

Doug played fullback under Majors at UT. He was well liked by those that knew him. He was a good football player who was even better known for his weight lifting prowess. He got into wrestling and is known as the "Hulk Hogan" of Japanese wrestling.

I remember seeing him on Georgia Championship Wrestling in his early days of wrasslin... I saw him slam Barry Windahm (who was a large feller).. Looked like he was slinging a sack of taters around.. Windahm's boots nearly flew off.. Dude was incredibly strong..
