I realize we are all disappointed with the vandy game and everyone wants to fire Helton, Pruitt, etc. but this is a process. Painful for sure but we are locked in for the foreseeable future with Pruitt. Let's try and focus on the evolution and rejuvenation of Tennessee football. It's not about 2018 or even 2019.

One thing we know is that Pruitt and co can recruit. Our success depends on that result and player development. We are in good hands if you believe in the process. This will be a complete overhaul of the roster. And the players that want to be here will buy in from day one.

In this day and age of instant gratification, we expect success overnight and that is not reality and only lends itself to disappointment all based on unrealistic expectations.

We should be looking forward to a top 10 recruiting class and player development with another year in the S&C program.

Embrace the grind that is college football and believe in the process. Our players and coaches deserve our support, win or lose.

God bless and GBO!
Good post, but we are currently 15th in the 24/7 recruiting rankings. That isn’t going to catch us back up. Even Lyle had us higher than that initially. Pruitt needed to not suck it up at Vandy to buid momentum. Instead, his team got their butts beat in a high school stadium by lesser talent. Now he gets to deal with a pissed off and embarrassed fanbase while trying to convince top shelf talent their next four years won’t be wasted. Imagine trying to do that when you have a lockeroom full of losers who are likely negatively recruiting the program. It’s a mess.

A 5-7 record and no bowl game is unacceptable for 2018 . We should have been in contention for SEC championships by 2020 and now all is lost.

Why? Because YOU expected more? Well, here's the reality...you shouldn't have. Most objective observers predicted about 4 wins. Many predicted 3-8, 0-8 in the SEC. Of course, Tennessee fans got upset at those predictions because they didn't like them. Nevermind that they were realistic.

Here's the reality: 5-7 exceeded the expectations of objective observers. If we weren't being objective, that's not Pruitt's fault, nor is it the fault of the objective observers.

Tennessee took its first step. It wasn't always painless, but it was taken and now we move to the second.

Vegas had us at 5.5 wins....

Yeah you think Boise State would last with our schedule? And go tell all the previous national champions that recruiting doesn't matter. Heck ask all of the previous SEC Champions if recruiting doesn't matter. Dumbest post of all time

Re-read what he said, not what you think he said. His post didn't contain the words, "recruiting doesn't matter." That would be silly.

High school recruiting has become ridiculously distorted by the star system and you absolutely cannot win championships without solid/basic coaching. Gimmicks, poor basic coaching and settling for way overrated 4 & 5* star recruits led directly to an 0-8 SEC record last season. All stars are clearly not created equally. Coaches should recruit meticulously and not just to achieve a useless team ranking for useless fan base bragging.

I wouldn't have picked Boise as my example, but "Dumbest post of all time?" Not hardly.

With it being Pruitt's first season, he gets somewhat of a pass...I guess. However I can tell you one thing going forward, starting with next season there is one thing that MUST come to pass! Winning in November and going to a bowl game must become a perennial occurrence once again! This crap of losing to teams like Vandy, Mizzou, South Carolina, and KY and missing even lower tier bowl appearances is completely and utter nonsense for a program like Tennessee's! I'm not even worried about GA, Florida, and Alabama at this point. Let's start winning in November once again first! Damn I am still so pissed off!

Pruitt could recruit 5 star studs to a 5 star program (FSU at the time and Bama). Hope he can do the same here. In the meantime he needs to develop the 3 stars he can get here into a winning team which will entice those looking for championships (football not life)

Next year maybe as painful as this one, but I’ll tolerate it if he purges the quitters from the team so they can’t infect the recruits

damn we already got a next year next year excuse thread going in record time. All we need now for a Volnation trifecta is a "It's a 5 year rebuild" thread or did I miss that one because I put all the coach worshipers on ignore?

How did that work out for Lyle in the long run? I don’t think Pruitt is really dealing with a pissed off fan base at this moment, might be trying to fix this, at least we as fan hope so. Volnation is covering that last part. He is paid a great salary to do a job. Period.
