I realize we are all disappointed with the vandy game and everyone wants to fire Helton, Pruitt, etc. but this is a process. Painful for sure but we are locked in for the foreseeable future with Pruitt. Let's try and focus on the evolution and rejuvenation of Tennessee football. It's not about 2018 or even 2019.

One thing we know is that Pruitt and co can recruit. Our success depends on that result and player development. We are in good hands if you believe in the process. This will be a complete overhaul of the roster. And the players that want to be here will buy in from day one.

In this day and age of instant gratification, we expect success overnight and that is not reality and only lends itself to disappointment all based on unrealistic expectations.

We should be looking forward to a top 10 recruiting class and player development with another year in the S&C program.

Embrace the grind that is college football and believe in the process. Our players and coaches deserve our support, win or lose.

God bless and GBO!

A 5-7 record and no bowl game is unacceptable for 2018 . We should have been in contention for SEC championships by 2020 and now all is lost.

My positive comment: Ky program took from Hal Momma, Rich Brooks & Stoops gradual improvement that has them where they are now. So yes, inch by inch we improve this program. It will take time

Negative comment: What you said, was also said about Dooley & Butch. They could recruit also
Hunte, Da Rick, Dobbs, Barnett, Jordan, Chandler, Calloway, Jennings, Banks etc
Recruiting is not the answer
Boise State wins by smart disciplined play not by 5* recruits

Not everyone wants to fire them. We have contingent of fans that are lobbying for COY.

Me I'd settle for not getting embarassed the last two games of the season.

Not just recruiting but player development. This is the difference, butch was a great recruiter because he was able sell but it was all based on BS. Pruitt and his staff have to develop players not just recruit 4 and 5 players that transfer or never live up to their ranking.

I, for one, believe he and his staff can and will recruit and develop players which will ultimately result in wins.

Trust the process, which means having faith in the coaches and administration to get this program back where it belongs in the SEC.

This is a real nice post 27. All your points are valid except where you say "We are in good hands if you believe in the process".

I disagree for this reason. While all the process you mention is correct. You neglect a simple point. That point is that ANY head coach can bring about needed results in this process. Nobody will pay me $4M/yr to bring us back to winning even though I know the process.

The question a lot of folks are having is whether CJP is actually the guy who can pull off this process. We just got utterly stomped in every measurable way by 2 sub mid pack SEC teams. Neither were close.

Kiffy, Doolittle, and BJ didn't get it done. The past 9 days casts a dark shadow on the newest guy to try.

Some on vn can't do this, their dislike for Pruitt will not allow it. I agree with you, and if there isn't improvement next year then it will be time to get concerned.

Next year you should see a seismic shift in attitude approach and discipline from players. We still won’t have the talent but the culture needs to be fully installed and true development taking place. Setting up for another roster upgrade and dramitic step forward into the following year.

To call this year a total success or failure is crazy. It had ups and downs, and successes and failures. Much improvement needed, but to forget the steps that were taken would be foolish

Lol, seriously? This didn't happen in a couple of years and it ain't gonna be SEC Championship quality in that amount of time either....sheeze, people, you need to learn to manage your expectations.

Total relaxation here. Tn football is a moderately entertaining B-movie horror/disaster flick. Doesn't bother me at all because I didn't create it and I didn't waste money on it. In fact it's way more entertaining than 7-9 meaningless wins. All or nothing going forward!

Yeah you think Boise State would last with our schedule? And go tell all the previous national champions that recruiting doesn't matter. Heck ask all of the previous SEC Champions if recruiting doesn't matter. Dumbest post of all time

I think that we are going to not only have to recruit more talent but also (perhaps more importantly) just get rid of many of the left-overs from the Butch Jones era. Some of those players, if they had more time with our new caoches, might have been great, but the Vandy game just made it seem like a lot just didn't want to play any more. By no means am I professing to have any special insight -- however, that was the feeling.

Although my confidence is shaken a bit, I still have to say that I believe in Pruitt. Prudence - and recent history- dictates a wait and see approach, however. Next year we should expect not only getting bowl eligible but also getting there BEFORE the last game of the season. As sad as this is, Vandy is a must-win next season.

Nice thesis. However after 10 years of watching this slop, no amount of words are going to change my attitude at this point. Until I see results ON THE FIELD I'm going to remain skeptical, apathetic, and downright melancholic about our program. I'm tired of the talk and promises of "better days ahead." Wake me up when it gets here.
