No one is calling for Jones to be fired. Everyone knows we can't change coaches for another 3 or 4 years minimum. We put all of our chips in the middle with this hire, now we are getting nervous thats all.

The season has not worked out like we thought. Looks like UGA, UF, USC are the weak sisters and Auburn, MSU, Ole Piss and Bama are the top teams. Yes, after yesterday 6 wins is looking more difficult.

Our record is what was expected. With so much youth, you get ups and downs. Don't run another coach off. I understand Jesse Palmer was seen in the Knoxville airport last night, said he thought Butch was a very good coach, but predicted he would leave in frustration in a couple of years. Do not continue this silly path of wanting to fire another coach! Gruden isn't coming and he would suck!!!!!
As for a Kentucky, they aren't going to beat us. Good grief....

If Butch is an elite coach he can handle the heat because he knows that his system will pay off with at least 8 or 9 wins next year, and us competing for an SEC championship in 2016. Elite coaches like coaching for programs that expect greatness rather than mediocrity. If he is so sensitive that he is bothered by fan criticism that he wants to leave, then we probably don't want him anyway. If that turns out to be the case, then the next around we need to pay the big bucks to hire someone who we know can turn a program around (i.e. Hugh Freeze or Mark Stoops, and please don't tell me that we can't go out bid either of those schools) rather than going for another budget hire.

I am still hoping that Butch is the man and that he will get it turned around, although I am much less hopeful after yesterday's performance. There is no excuse for losing that that pathetic Florida team. Here's to hoping that the UF game was either a fluke for our offense or that UF's defense simply improved that much between the Alabama game and our game during the off week.

According to Phil Steele’s 2014 College Football Strength of Schedule Rankings:

TN's schedule is #2

KY's schedule is #15

These are preseason rankings but not as different as people like to think.

And Ky hasn't gotten to their tough stretch yet. They likely finish 5-7

If this really is his dream job then nothing can run him off.

Sometimes dreams turn into nightmares; IMO, some our fans are capable of making that happen. The main reason most folks are upset is because they themselves expected a big win based on nothing but hope. The media played it up based on a close loss to Georgia. Sometimes, just sometimes, a coach becomes a victim of his own accomplishments.....ie Fulmer.

recruits don't give two she-its about this site. All they care about is going to a winning program. And before you start into your little "idiot" rant, remember - uf took 3 ots to beat uk. Three!! Which means they are about uk good. If you don't expect to beat teams of uk's caliber, you aren't a real ut fan. You're more like a kansas fan. Rock, chalk jayhawk!!

Tired of hearing about the talent gap. Talent is not the problem. If you "star gazers" who say Florida and Georgia should have beat us because they were higher ranked recruiting classes than ours, I ask you one thing...... How do you explain Mississippi st. Thumping a&m? A&m has been killing it on the recruiting trail. Mississippi st always finishes in the 30s or 40s. As far as being young is goes, yes we are young in a lot of positions. But Florida had freshmen out their also. Their freshmen just semmed better prepared. Last year we had senior and junior lines and people were blaming the qb run game and secondary while also saying how aj couldn't play in pass coverage and the oline was "overrated". The coaches have had these players for a couple of months now. It is their job to coach them up and teach them how to pick up blitzes and take care of the ball. Not all of us our saying fire butch. We wil never give up on our vols. but I think after two losses where we gave the game away, it is fair to question the coaches. Again I'm not saying I know more about football than anyone on the staff. But I do know the deference between a win and a loss. And IMO losing should not be tolerated at Tennessee, no mater the youth or depth, no matter the injuries or the opponent. Now let's finish this season strong. GBO and sorry for the novel lol

It's obvious everyone likes Butch, it's the OC that needs to go.

If they have no chance of winning the game then they need to say so and make that clear to the fans. I did not hear any of that type talk pre-game?

How young and awful is Ky or was? They seem to have grown up quickly.

Expected when? Sure before the season, this was considered a loss by people assuming UF would be improved. But after the season started and the way both teams had been playing, this was considered the best chance of beating UF in forever.

And while I think we beat UK, you simply can't just brush it off like it's a silly thought. Everyone was saying we were definitely going to beat UF too.

This is ALL COACHING.....when you see Kentucky damn near beat Fl in the swamp and would have if the refs would have called the delay of game and then Kentucky beats S. Carolina and do you think Kentucky has more talent than TENN...........not even close.....Tenn O-line coach and O-Coord need to have a few sit down mtgs to get their issh together and find out what person does best in certain blocking schemes then you call the play according to the strength.........just watch BAMA run all day to the LEFT side of the O-Line

If you are going to give UK the "win" because of the delay of game penalty that should have been called, don't we get that as well since the clock had hit zero when they snapped the winning FG?

Why would this be anyone's dream job? We have a bipolar cannibalistic fan base with the patience of a four year old with ADHD.

This is perhaps the most accurate statement that has been made in the past 2 days

Consider that those rankings are considering all regular season games. We are five games into the season, and right now it is inarguable that Kentucky has played a far easier schedule than UT.

I don't post alot anymore because a lot of you guys are so darn emotional and confrontational. You forget recruits look at these sites. Anyway, what I can take away from today is one thing-

were still on schedule.

Dooley had us so far behind on recruits and talent that were paying the price now. He didn't recruit enough line talent that's why we're starting 4-5 new starters on each line.

We expected to be about a 5 to 6 win team this year, the goal this year was to get to a bowl to get these kids valuable game time to prepare them for the next few years and to have next year's class ready to go with them.

Don't forget, except Worley and aj, we will return EVERYBODY next year. You guys saw a little success against Georgia and you thought we were a 9 win team and we just arent.

Florida has more raw talent on their team than we do. A lot more. Just compare the past four recruiting classes they had to our four. They should be dominated us, but we essentially were better than them. I'm proud of our guys.

And as to bajakian. He didn't become dumb overnight. He has the near impossible job to run a high powered wr core to be successful with an inexperienced and moderately talented qb and a (let's face it) lower big ten level quality of o line. Maybe worse. It's hard to get your wr open for 20 Yd outs when the line can't block blue chippers with game experience! I don't understand what you guys thought would happen. I'm impressed he's even got us moving the ball with consistency we do.

So in conclusion guys, calm down, we are a 5 win team at worst, a 7 win at best. I agree that Jake took the foot off the pedal a little but he couldn't help the sacks and the fact we couldn't get a hole rushing wise and the injury to JH.

Remember also- recruits see this and don't want to think the coach they're buying into might be fired. He wont. And neither will butch. I guarantee to you that when we have our lines with depth next year and our defense at full strength; even with a game manager like Dobbs at qb, we can expect to see substantial growth. Always give the coach three years to implement his systems. Not two conf games into the second year, you idiots :)

and as always, 12-0 or 0-12 It's great to be a tennessee vol!

It's funny to see the one's that don't post a lot and just observe are the most rational :salute:
