Asked if he thought Eli Manning could march the Giants down the field and win the superbowl, he said while he was at Tennessee he kinda helped recruit Eli but he wound up going to Ole Miss.So he wasn't surprised. Then Rome asked him, speaking of Tennessee, Coach Fulmer hasn't done too much over the last 10 years, how much presure is he under to win? Donte said he normally stops by once a summer at a UT practice. Said UT has had some pretty good recruitng years of late, stating that the younger recruits are older now, and said Coach Fulmer would have them ready to play. He said it was up to them if they could carry that on out to the playing field or not. Nothing but positive talk about Coach Fulmer.

Well Stallworth is obviously an idiot then!

Good to see Donte represent. I might finally have a reason to pay attention to the Browns.

No chili dogs. And I am not ruled by my sub-conscience or emotions. I make decisions based on logical thought.

But I do have a sense of humor and it is at times sarcastic.:)

The younger recruits are older now... Yogi Berra would be impressed with that line.

Maybe he's getting kickbacks from the Hill to say positive things about Fulmer.....

No, but I think there is some resentment towards Donte because he used to give his high school team rather than the Vols during Monday Night Football introductions.

You are not allowed to say a university as your school unless you actually completed a degree there. Some NFL rule. He left early before completing a degree, so he can't say his college.

No reason to resent him. He is just following the rules.

Really? Seems like there are awfully few guys that don't give their college name... compared to the seemingly many guys that leave early and/or don't graduate. Not saying you're wrong, but that just is surprising.

I don't think anyone has ever been able to substantiate this "rule." People talk about it all the time, but I don't think anyone has ever provided evidence in support of it.

There's no way that's true.

This same conversation is on here somewhere from earlier in the year. I think you'd be surprised with how many guys finish their degrees before leaving "early."

Hey, maybe I am wrong. But it is a well known myth then. So it's practically true!

This sort of goes back to the debate we had about the definition of "alumnus."

I can't imagine that the NFL would prohibit its athletes from stating the university where they played football prior to joining the league.

What would the NFL have to gain by having players name their high schools?

I can't remember, but I am pretty sure Vince Young says Texas as his school. He has not graduated yet.

Does Whitten say his high school also, or UT?

That is the first I have heard of that rule, if true. I always thought it was just what the player wanted to use.

You know, I never thought about that. You are right. He definitely hasn't yet, and he does say "Texas." So I guess that rule thing is just an internet myth that I have unwittingly helped perpetuate. I am now reformed.:peace2:

Wrong. There ISN'T any such rule.

How in the world could anyone be so uninformed about something? And then to be even more clueless and post it in a fact-like manner.
