"I believe my performance in the game wasn't great, but it was good enough to show everyone the reason why I'm the starter and the leader of the offense,"

I have heard a few quotes like this from Simms, and honestly it kind of rubs me the wrong way. They sound derrogatory towards his fellow teammate, and he has not performed well enough to justify that kind of cockiness.

I'm sure many of you may disagree, and that is fine. Let me know what you think.

He does seem unjustifiably cocky. The way he celebrates every TD (the few he has) like it just won the game doesn't sit well with me.

Totally agree. He does this a lot. Sounds like insecurity

Simms is a freaking joke if he believes his performances has been good enough to still be the starter. I am beginning to see why he didn't cut it at Louisville and had to go to JUCO. He is certainly way to arrogant and has nothing to back it up with except several interceptions at the goal line.

I agree 100%. It seems that the players are starting to get behind Bray as well. I think he knows Bray is the more talented qb and he's grasping at straws.

he's fighting for his job. I would fight for my job, wouldn't you?

Of course I would fight for my job, but I would leave it on the field. Leaders do not make excuses or put others down to bring themselves up. Leaders have confidence and humility, and I see neither in these few quotes from Simms.

I just Hope CDD starts the best QB and then Sticks with him through the game whether its Bray or Simms. Shuffling QB's during the game doesn't work.

The thing that bothers me is I can't see what Simms is talking about. I look at both, and neither one jumps out as the overwhelming favorite.

The catch is we haven't seen enough from Bray to make a fair assessment, but I think we know what we have with Simms. We also don't see this kind of attitute from Bray.

Simms to me has a leader mentality..... he is fighting for his job...and has played gutsy while getting pummeled all year long.... I like his determination.

This might sound harsh, but Crompton sounded more like a leader his senior year than Simms does.

I will give him credit for his determination and his toughness, but that alone won't cut it.

Intangibles can only go so far without any production.

he might be fighting for his job, but hes not winning it at all. he takes hits yeah so does a lot of qbs and they get up and throw the ball better than simms and they know how to throw the ball away and not take sacks!

This. Plus the guy is playing behind a sub-par line (we all know that), and his #1 receiver was out for 3 games. I think he has played well given what he has to work with.

given what he has to work with he has played great imo..... most qb's would have folded by now

he hasn't backed down one bit

Besides these intagibles, what exactly has he done so well? If intangibles don't translate on the field, who cares?

Offense Third Down Efficiency 115th
Offense Fourth Down Efficiency 114th
Pass Sacks Allowed 113th
First Downs 111th

He's been sub par, but so has the play calling. They simply have to get more out of the offense or more finger pointing to come.

Simms just needs to shut up and show he is a leader on the field..... leaders are not always the one ones who are doing all the yelling, but most the ones who are proving it on the field
