Quote from Missouri board

Mauk hangs on to the ball a long time waiting for someone to come open deep. Rarely checks down. I think the opportunity will be their for sacks and INT's this week.

Probably more sacks than INTs

But I think it's bigger he only completes about 40-45% of his passes.

I think they're good, but I also think they are REALLY missing James Franklin. Their current QB is the definition of a game manager.

Less game manager, maybe more not quite ready to start yet/still developing and learning.

But yes they miss Franklin IMMENSLEY. That offense has completely changed most everything about it in his absence.

Mizzou has WRs who can smoke our secondary. We have given up 3 or 4 TDs on WR screens this year. They are big and athletic at WR. We need Randolph to play.

Not saying we can't score too, but their offensive sets up well against our D.

What's more disturbing is the fact someone thinks that beating this UT team handily proves a team is great. I guess because they don't have any real quality wins to show for it (tho they are a very good team).

IF they beat UT it could be their best win of the year and no less than second best. On Nov 9, UGA or UF will be 4-4. UGA has Auburn and GT left to play. UF has Vandy, USCe, and FSU.

They have 4 WR's over 6'2"... so does UT. They have one guy with really good speed- Washington. DGB seems to still be lost at times and has not figured out how to use his athleticism.

Worley was 19/34 for 179 with several drops and miscues by WR's vs USCe's D. Mauk was 10/25 for 249... but that 96 yard TD was pretty "lucky". Otherwise he was 9/24 for 153 yds no TD's and a pick.

They may win because of their system. They will not win because they overwhelm UT with their athleticism at any position.

Well wait a minute then...we have another thread talking about us beating a top 10 team, which Mizzou technically is right now.

The way you describe it, they're really not anything to brag about beating.

I think they've lived a charmed life. They are bottom third in athletic talent in the SEC. Ask yourself an honest question... If they had played UF or UGA without all the injuries do you think they'd be 10th or even ranked?

They played a weak OOC schedule, Vandy, caught UGA/UF all beaten up, and then showed who they really are when Shaw needed just a little over a qtr to beat them after USCe spotted them 3 qtrs.

I live in MO. I have a son at Mizzou. I pull for them outside of playing UT.

They are not a Bama, Oregon, or even UGA when UT played them.

I don't disagree at all, in fact I think we win; but having said all that, this place can't have it both ways (not saying you're saying this but the place as a whole): we can't on one hand act like they really aren't that good yet then turn around if we win crow about how we beat a Top 10 team.

I live in MO... have a son at Mizzou... and you are still right. USCe was the only good SEC team they have played that was anywhere close to being healthy. Shaw scorched them for over 200 yds in just a tad over a quarter.

UT has seen DL's from Oregon, UF, UGA, USCe, and Bama that were BETTER than Mizzou's.

I like Mizzou for obvious reasons but am a Vol fan first.... They are not up to SEC standards in talent yet. If they win it will be because of their system and coaching... not because any DL they have even remotely approaches Tiny's talent level.

Classy post, sjt. This one and the one below it. Once again, you have proven why you are (IMO) one of the most respected posters on VN. I wish I had your sense of restraint when it was called for.

I'm worried about this game. At Mizzou, and they are going to be "pist" and fired up after the loss to USCe. We're up next, and I think they're going to be looking to make a statement.

They have tall, fast receivers, and that's going to be a problem for us. Our best bet is to try to rattle that young QB into some bad throws.

Their defense is fast and aggressive. Much like Bama did, I expect them to load the box; charge the backfield; and dare Dobbs (I think he starts) to beat them through the air.

This game might come down to talent, depth, and "who can play for 4 quarters", but I'm concerned about the Momentum Monster, which would seem to favor Mizzou in this one.

If the Vols pull this one out, it will be likely be because...as you pointed out...that we have faced far tougher opposition than they have, and maybe that experience carries the day. I sure hope so.

Go Vols.

I feel like we can, however, say that they are overrated in the BCS standings, but still be excited about a technical Top 10 victory. I think, with where we've been for the past several years, any win is exciting, but one against a nationally perceived Top 10 team is something worth celebrating, even if we feel, personally, that they aren't as good as their ranking would suggest. May just be me though.

Not to mention we held Shaw to 7 for 21 for a total of 189 yards and a qb rating of 25.8. Shaw lit up Mizzo for 168 yards going 14 for 18 in just the 4th quarter. Shaw and Thompson combined for over 400 passing yards.

You Forget That UT Was Owned By That Same Florida Team. They Just Brought In The Second String Qb And Ran All Over UT.

Missouri Pounded Them.

UT Lost To Ga When They Were Without Their Players.

Missouri Beat Them Pretty Convincingly.

UT Will Have To Be Efficient On Offense To Have A Chance Against Mizzou. It Is Possible, But Hardly An Easy Task.

Why Does Every Sentence Appear Like The Title To A Book?

Of course you're forgetting that they also lost to a team that we beat as well. Now I agree with you in that it'll be a tough game. We were really fortunate to pull out the USCe game. And we'll be lucky to beat them on the road.

ha yeah that's about what I figured. it's sad when your own board doesn't even like you.

Considering you were the one whining about being attacked for your posts, perhaps you're describing yourself. Of course if you actually care if a messageboard "likes" you or not, then you might want to reconsider your definition of "sad".
