the smug attitude of those who essentially tell everyone they are stupid for questioning the staff or having doubts because "your expectations are unrealistic Butch only had 2 months".....it just sounds like the same smug attitude that so many on VN had during the Dooley years...I believe we have a better coach in Butch than we had in Dooley...but those who are absolutely adamant that Butch will "get it done" and "take us to the top" are just as clueless about the accuracy of those sentiments as those who cry that he is going to be terrible. Basically, it is fair to have doubts...it is fair to be confident...but NO ONE has any certainty at this point...so stop the condescension....and yes, this was both smug and condescending.
We had a decent shot at Levenberry but not Bellamy. The only person we have really missed out on is Levenberry so far. If you will listen to those in the know like Hubbs and a few others, our real targets don't announce until tomorrow. If we miss out on guys like Miller, Dobbs, Bell, or a few others then there will be a reason to feel down. Unfortunately, recruits tell several people what they want to hear.
This is the danger of both the pessimist and optimist vs the realists. The pessimist hears the chatter and when the high hopes fall take it as proof positive that their worst imaginations are true. The optimist falls into depression after convincing themselves that their wonderful dreams are sure to come true.
The realist knows this is all a process that will work itself out in time. They've seen these things before and aren't surprised by either a good or bad outcome. They "hope" but don't assume things are just going to be rosy. They understand it could be bad and prepare for it but don't assume it will be.
Well I would feel alot better about tomorrow if CBJ would stay at a Holiday Inn tonite! This is the danger of both the pessimist and optimist vs the realists. So 11berry 'supposedly' told the staff he was coming here, never 'actually' decommited from Free Shoes U, and last but not least had a 'public announcement' tonite to commit to a school he was already committed to...
Makes sense to me...
