I guess it's been proven that those that don't like anything negative said about Pearl will do at least one of the following:

1) List out everything he's done so far (4 Straight NCAAT, 3 SEC East "championships", 1 outright SEC Championship, 2 Sweet 16s, first time ever #1 ranking, 7-1 against Florida)

2) Point out he's NOT Buzz Peterson, Wade Houston, Kevin O'Neil, Jerry Greeen, or even Don DeVoe.

3) Proclaim how he's taken the basketball program to new heights and has made UT basketball what it is, put us on the map, etc.

4) Assume anyone who would question/criticize Pearl wants him to be fired and continue to repeat how stupid that is.

5) Not once acknowledge any valid criticisms of Pearl.

6) Repeat 1-5

Did I miss anything?

Sir, Name me another Coach that has done for our Basketball program what Pearl had done in the same time frame?

2nd Who you gonna replace him with Billy Gillespie? lol please no!!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume this was rhetorical, because there is no way that you believe the list of answers to be a short one.

Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt!!! With all respect I dont feel the list would be that long and certainly shorter of those that would even come to Tennessee...

I think they are alluding to the fact that we've had a rash of posters lately that seem to think that if you aren't deifying Pearl, you're committing an unmentionable sin.

It's nothing personal, but read my list I made a few posts ago. We've seen these same type posts over and over and over, and it seems every day a new person makes a thread saying the same thing acting like no one has pointed out all he's done for UT.

Which is silly because no one that I've read has yet to say Pearl hasn't done anything for UT.

Maryland and Michigan both made the tournament and won a game this season with far less talent than any of the four teams Pearl has had at UT.

The old, "who you gonna git," argument. Its not hard to find good coaching when you pay 2 mil plus a year and have a 21000 seat arena, and a brand new practice facility.

All of this being said, no one is saying that he needs to be fired after this season. The critics want to see more discipline and hustle instilled into the program, especially in half court settings. This will allow improvement of the team, the coaching staff, and will make the fans happier. This has to be demanded, and it starts at the top. Which is why he gets paid the big bucks.

Those assumptions come from those who really do want him fired and the threads listed below:

-Pearl's Final Drive Down 75
-The Pembroke Postgame Report: Start The Bus Edition
-Now That Bruce is Obviously Going to be Fired

I agree no one is above criticism, but those calling for his job are a bit extreme. When you get those arguments from people who want him fired, you get the arguments you listed above.

Actually, having read all three threads he mentions, I am wondering about any of them. They have suggestive titles, but I don't recall any of the threads advocating his firing.

I don't think anyone is asking for the firing of Pearl. It just seems like they are by the way they're criticizing him. A little criticism is good for the program.

Seriously though hat, you really don't like Pearl. Everything I've read on here where you speak about Pearl is about him being a bad coach. However, you didn't like the hire originally either.

Be careful.......don't let the facts get in the way. Some folks are easily confused.

I think some folks like Pearl because they got his autograph; he waved at them at the mall; he nodded in their direction at a Knoxville restaurant........well, you get the idea.
