Quinton Hancock

A lot of folks would have said the same about Meach before the 06 season....of course, Cut had Ainge in much better shape in 06...maybe something similar can happen for Crompton.

Not trying to say it can't happen, not at all...

Just saying Meach was money, he had a MONSTER year.
I hope this staff brings out the best in everybody, as opposed to what we grew used to.

He better...he's our only returning WR who will participate in fall practice!

I should be more concerned about the WR injuries but I think Chaney and Kiffin will do a good job with big WRs like Hancock and Warren. We can use some of the young guys in the slot or running go routes to stretch the field.

I think Stocker and Cottam will be huge this year and the FB and RB positions will catch a lot of passes too.

As long as our OL can get decent protection and a push in the running game then I think Crompton will have multiple options to make throws to and will be able to make the throws.

There is no explaining him looking more lost on the field as a Junior getting all the reps with the starting team than he did as a Freshman filling in for Ainge unless it was an issue with the system.

Anybody would look terrible if they had no clue what was going on or if the OL would be able to block. We needed to use a QB last year that could make plays with his legs because there was no chance in the pocket.

This is exactly why I'm so excited. We had a huge turnaround when Cut came back and I have faith that Kiffin/Chaney can have similar results, especially with Gran coaching RBs and a tagteam NFL approach to the OL.

We could have an even bigger improvement without Fulmer at the helm and an upgrade with Monte and Coach O on defense.

The turnaround we had from 05 to 06 and 07 should give everyone reason to be positive because we have even better coaching and conditioning and better talent on D(except LB) and at RB.

What happened to Gerald Jones? I know Moore and Rogers are hurt.

Gerald isn't healing as fast as was expected and his hand(or is it wrist?) is still in a cast. He will be quite limited in fall practice. As for the season, I think that he will be starting game 1....but Kiffin left the door open that he might not be ready the first few games (though nothing as definite as in the case of Moore).

If we are missing Jones for the WKU game, while it will hurt some I don't think it would be that big of a deal...IMO, if I was Kiffin I wouldn't risk playing him if he isn't 100% and let him get ready for UCLA and UF the next couple weeks....JMO

We should be able to beat them with our run game. I agree. Let Jones rest if he isn't 100%.

That's what I'm thinking too as far as the run game goes...We really won't have to open it up until we play UCLA....We will need all we can get for them, and I'm not trying to build them up as a big powerhouse but IMO if the guys set out the week before and come back the next week before a big game and are 100% I want him out there to shake the rust off

I think the UCLA game is going to be similar to the Cal game of 2006. The Vols are going to come in eager and wanting to prove to the country that they can play ball this year after a miserable campaign the year before. I think the Vols blast UCLA, and then give Florida a tougher game than the early line suggests.
