I think the difference is Kiffin's offense values diversity among its WR while Fulmer's was more about who he was more comfortable having out there unless you were hands down better than everyone else.
If Kiffin had a guy like Chris Hannon; Hannon's numbers would have been big time. Under Fulmer he was designated to 3-4 WR on depth chart despite how big a mismatch he was. Tons of potential that Fulmer never tapped.
In a pefect world Kiffin would like a 6"6 physical WR on one end, 6"2/6"3 total package guy on the other side, and and 5"9-6"1 playmaker in the slot.
From what I hear he is finally stepping up. Just has to improve route running and consistency. We need him to be a 30-40 catch guy this year.
I never played WR so please forgive the ignorance of my question. Just WTH is so difficult about route running that it seems to take WR's so much time to perfect it? I mean honestly, if you know the play and you know the route you're supposed to run ON that play, what's so hard about just.....doing it? It doesn't seem like rocket science to me. Please help me understand this concept.
I hear comments all the time like "wide receiver-A is much faster than wide receiver-B. However wide receiver-B is a much better route runner than wide receiver-A." I'm thinking, if wide receiver-A is not a good route runner, then he either doesn't know the plays or he simply chooses to be insubordinate to that play and do his own thing. Either way, WTH is he doing on the field in the first place?

i've wondered that too. i think it has to do with making precise cuts and being on time with the qb.
