You have seen confirmation on this? The last I heard (two days ago) they had not heard yet and that was not a good sign.

Hearsay from Gibbs. The way they were talking it was a foregone conclusion.

But it isn't good if they have not heard anything yet.

Slick Rick says, Hancock will be a very good player before he leaves The Hill. He is another guy that has been under the radar since he arrived. He seems like a really level headed guy.

So he has gotten a redshirt then... U can play up to 2 games but no more.. He only played in 2 games... I dont see why they wouldnt give him one if he already hasnt..

Trust me, Fulmer will make sure talent like that never hits the field...
Hancock is a good answer to a Question that I was asked today....Will the incoming freshmen WRs play this season? I said no(I now '06 we had Meachem, Swain and Smith thats why.... BUT). All we heard about in Fall Ball was how good Hancock was but he never played. Seems to me CPF never has confidence in freshmen.

Anyway, lets hope Hancock gets on the field this year.

They said the same thing about Josh Briscoe before 2005. When he got on the field last year, he didn't do much.

Briscoe is a hell of a blocker on the outside though. If you watch Briscoe, he wipes out most corners on run plays. If UT goes more to the ground game this year, he'll play alot because of this

Briscoe will be much improved...His "fear of the hit" of watever yall want to call it will just dimenish with more playing time. And like Justin said, hes an excellent run blocker...

I like Briscoe, know him personally, but watch him tense up going over the middle. Hell he's pretty lanky and I would not want to take the shots either, but UT doesn't pay for me to go to school. He's going to have to get better about that. You have to admit smokeyman that he does do it

that sounds good. i have no idea what kind of blockers any of our receivers are

Briscoe is flat out cheap on the field. Watch him, he's throwing elbows up in the throats of CBs (it's legal though) and he's not scared to crack back on LBs. That is why it confuses me about him being scared of hits over the middle

Oh yea, I totally agree...Ive noticed it too. He does tense up when hes going over the middle or just when hes about to get hit. But that will all get better with more experience. He's the veteran reciever now, so he'll step his game up. Ive talked with him quite a few times also. Real nice guy.

That WOULD be a good example except that Hancock was injured. He would have played more if not for a hamstring injury. Thus, the attempt at a medical redshirt. I think we have some people on here who are dillusional if they do not think that Jones, Vinson, and O'Neal are going to be on the field somewhere.

Hancock's hamstring injury wasn't that bad. Its one of those deals where CPF was playing it safe with him. He wasn't going to get to play because of him missing some practice time due to the injury and that gave CPF a reason for the medical redshirt. A good idea on his part to do that.

As for Vinson and O'Neal they will get on the field but I just don't see them making an impact or being a game changer this year. Thats just not CPF's "M.O."
I wish they would because the Vols will need them.:good!:

Vinson comes from a prep school.... so did Hefney. Hefney started as a freshman.

O'Neal is a JUCO.As was Mahelona, who was an All-American his 1st year at UT. Gibril Wilson? Also a 2 year starter once he came to UT from a JUCO.

Coaches do not recruit JUCO guys to sit on the bench,

If you had said the true freshmen (Jones, Paige etc) you would have an arguement.

I truly think our first play from scrimmage will have Briscoe, Hancock, and O'Neal on the field.

I really hope Vinson and Jones get playing time in 2007.

Shelley, Taylor, Rodgers, et al need to step up.

Great examples Mr. Groves but I said those two would see the field. O'Neal could be the next Kelley Washington(on the field, hopefully not in the locker room) who knows.:dunno:

Looking back CPF did play Jayson Swain a lot as a freshmen. I hope the freshmen do very well:peace2:

Vinson will defidently see a bunch of playing time. He will be a freak the minute he steps on the field you watch.

I haven't heard a whole lot about him yet.. Im pretty sure he's participating in Spring Practice... This kid has a big upside, and i like to see Fulmer talking about him rather that Lucas Taylor for the starting position..
Did Quinton get a medical redshirt last season, i hope so cause i would like to have 4 more seasons with him..

Receiving praise: Cutcliffe said many of UT's young receivers have showed significant improvement.
In particular, Cutcliffe commended sophomores Quintin Hancock and Slick Shelley
