did he hate fruit??

In a poem by Robert Kloss entitled "Martin Van Buren" it is said that, "They called you “Van Ruin” although this was not your name. They stood jobless and wretched below your window, throwing decayed fruit. These pieces thumped and splattered and streaked in wormed juices. They waited for you at your carriage, jeering. Had they known at that hour a man such as you could die as any other man perhaps now they would have butchered you for all to see, but instead they spat, and instead they hissed."

If this is true, I am sure he had a low regard for fruit after that.

HP Color printer makes a good bagman. Could be the money ain't real. He believes he's gonna be a 1st round pick in three years an he's found a visual way to brag an swag. Course he's makin' cheap counterfit cash. What he actually did show is he's just another prima donna who may or may not have the maturity to survive being a scholar/athelete in college ball. Course it ain't like he's gonna actually have to DO the scholar part, that'll be taken care of, but he will have to show up for class ... maybe.

Seems like our bagmen have been lacking the past couple of years.

I think it is a lack of confidence in the HC. Maybe Butch will get em fired up. If you don't think Saban had some his first and 2nd years--(and probably stiil) you are naive. Escalades were all over the FB complex. Julio came from the projects----BUT, he had one. I live close.

We need a bigger bag than Auburn, simple...if they bring a briefcase, we bring a seabag. Done deal, D will be fixed

If you're gonna pay players, at least buy players that win, Kentucky.

I watched ESPN 30 for 30 "Pony Excess" last night, dealing with this very issue in relation to SMU getting the death penalty. A good watch and highly recommended. Eric Dickerson still won't admit what he got for his services.

It was cheap back then. $10,000 could get you a Heisman trophy winner. Fact.

All I know is, the number 1 recruit in the nation, Nkemdiche, is visiting in Baton Rouge this very weekend, with the Super Bowl being about 70 miles away in N.O. and tickets running a few thousand dollars if you could even get one. What a shame he'll be this close, but this high school student would never have the resources to make to this special football event. Too bad ... :whistling:

Remember George Rogers. His mother took a wad of money from Auburn and then signed with USCe and later won the Heisman. That's the way the game was played back then.
