Quick Question

I just don't think Knoxville is very marketable compared to other cities. It would a huge risk to have a bowl there.

Another reason that Knoxville probably won't get a bowl is the location. There isn't enough of a draw to Ktown for a teams fans to come spend a couple days.

I live in Albuquerque and we have the New Mexico bowl. Nobody goes and no matter cares unless UNM is in it. There needs to be way less bowls. They have become meaningless.

Hello All, I have viewed this forum for a while and this is my first post. With the bowl season now kicking off, I've got a question that's been on my mind for several years and never asked. Why doesn't Neyland Stadium host a bowl game? I know everyone speaks well about playing in the stadium.

That's a great question and first post. Welcome! While i don't know the answer to your question, I would like to speculate. It seems to me that the bowls are typically hosted in the city in which the sponsor resides. Not necessarily their headquarters, but somewhere the company has a large presence. I would also think it might be extremely expensive to start a new bowl. A little pocket lining of the NCAA if you know what I mean. It's apparent from NCAA rules and the BCS that big money rules and not what's best for the game.

Thanks for all the responses. All of them make since from the weather to the marketability. Being from K-town originally, these would seem logical.

The you had better check out many of the bowl cities in the winter. Memphis, just for one example, isn't exactly a tourist/visitors mecca in the winter, nor are many of the other cities in which bowls are held.

Just Sat. 12-20-08 Chattanooga hosted the div.1 championship Montana v/s Richmond and it was a sell out as it has been for the past few years I think it is a great idea that may have to catch on

Yeah, I think it's in a dome. It would still be frigid getting to and from the stadium and around town for bowl festivities.

Like the Super Bowl a few years back. I still can't believe they had it in that awful city.
