Saw the new stadium going up while at the Music City Bowl. Would someone fill in details about it? Why, how old is the old stadium, a dome, how is it funded etc.?
Mizzou fan here from St. Louis. Divorced by the shield twice here and will never see another NFL team in St. Louis again in my lifetime.

Once they found out how much renovation costs would be they saw it would be a better investment to build a state of the art football stadium and fan village for several kinds of events. Smart business decision on their part.

Not for an idiot / dysfunctional team like the Titans. The state just threw over 2 billion dollars away. A small portion of the state funds could have been used on the Vols Nil programs that could of went towards helping TN win a national championship.

The NFL threatens cities and states that if they don't fund a new stadium, the franchise will just pack up and leave. I have a good suspicion that they are running out of places in the states with enough clout to move to. Moving a franchise outside the states, is still just a globalist pipe dream.

You propose skipping appearances and just taxing residents to give directly to athletes?

Doesn’t matter how dysfunctional the franchise is. The NFL makes stupid money and it’s a no brainer. Idk if you’ve noticed but Neyland is undergoing renovations and will also have a “fan village”. Both teams are very well supported and neither will suffer. The more Nashville grows, the more in state talent there will be also. It’s a win-win for the Vols.

The Vols and Titans mix like oil and water. There has always been bad blood between the two and it didn't help that Peyton played for the Titans division rival and beat them on a fairly regular basis.

The Only time their stadium gets filled to capacity now is when the Vols play a music city bowl or game to open the season.

The amount of money the city and state will generate from Super Bowls, CFP National Championships, and Final Fours alone is worth it. Not to mention concerts from musicians like Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift. You are just choosing to complain about something for the hell of it.

Also drafting Kentucky QB Will Levis over Hooker was another instate bad PR move on the Titans part. Titan fans were even telling Vol fans to shutup during the draft.

Still doesn’t matter. The Titans stadium will be bringing in bookoos of cash for the city and state. Your argument now has shifted to which players are drafted. In hindsight, that was smart for the organization since they were never going to compete in the short term anyways. Now they have the number 1 pick and hold all the leverage in the draft.

Bottom line: The stadium will most likely be a helluva lot better than the embarrassment of a team playing there.

And it still won’t matter because the team will still rake in all that NFL money.

It is a bit weird that NFL teams want a New stadium every 20-25 years and somehow renovations are not cost effective..... but at the College Level teams almost always renovate and update and it's always cost effective. HMMMM someone is fibbing on one side or the other.

Updating Neyland is not really cost effective but there is too much history to build a new stadium right now and fans would riot. As I continue to say, NFL teams make crazy stupid money and it’s not a big deal to build a new stadium. Nissan Stadium wasn’t that great to begin with so it makes sense to do a new stadium.

As has been stated it made more sense to build a new stadium than upgrade the old stadium. The stadium will not be used just for Titans. Music City Bowl, CMA fest and numerous concerts will be held in new indoor stadium.

The funding comes from state, local, Titans and NFL. People tend to believe the state and local governments are just writing a check for their part which is not true. For example, Nashville is issuing bonds that will be repaid by:
  • A 1% increase in Davidson County's hotel occupancy tax
  • In-stadium sales tax
  • 50% of sales tax from future development of the stadium's campus
  • Rent paid by the Titans
  • A pre-existing ticket tax of $3 per ticket sold
In other words the local money would not exist if not for the new stadium. It’s not money that they could spend on other things. While I’m for the new stadium, I can see why some people are against it. The sources of the funding has not been explained well to the people of Nashville. As I stated earlier, there are many people who believe this is just money coming out of Nashville’s budget that could be put to use to do other things. There are other people who just want to complain without even wanting to be educated.

As a disclaimer, I was an original Titans PSL holder. I do not currently have PSLs. While I am a Titans fan, I’m not near as much a Titans fan as I am a Vol fan. Overall, I just believe the indoor stadium will be good for Nashville and the development on that side of the river.

Some on here will still find a way to make a negative comment about it. They don’t care about the facts because they know nothing about the situation and got called out on it.
