Questionable no-calls by refs in the NCAAs

The entire discussion is interesting to me because I've been telling you guys for over a year that in the tournament they are much, much less inclined to call a ton of reach-in or over the back type fouls. They do it, but by and large and overall they let 'em play.

That's why the teams with big men underneath the basket end up advancing and the teams with a bunch of guards and perimeter shooters go home early.

Nice to hear that the refs allow them to play street ball in the NCAA tournament.

I'd say that its a combination of wanting the players to settle it, rather than controversy over calls, plus with the stakes higher its just more of an NBA mentality. You have to really alter a guy's shot to get called in the tournament, IMO.

Always seemed to me to be that way and as the tournaments come and go it just reaffirms my sense of that more every year.

I agree refs should let "players play" but since when do they allow coaches to play? Check out Ben Howland's ridiculous "defense" against Indiana's inbounds passer (video link below)

I've never seen that type of "on-court" behavior from a coach in the college game. And the refs did nothing. At the very least, Howland should have been reprimanded after the game. I'm really surprised this has not been discussed more in the media.

See separate thread on this very topic - new Ben Howland Rule.
