Question: Why hasn’t Helton called

That’s only because our QB, who’s soon to be pulled, with a 72% completion rate and 161 qb rating and no turnovers, sucks out loud, right 18? I mean, he’d surely just misread the linebackers and stare down the RBs and cause the screens to fail.
You choose now to use sarcasm? I have been complimentary of what JG did in this game. As far as I can remember, they haven't called any fades or screens. I'm pretty sure JG made those throws well last year. FWIW, no reads involved in those plays usually.

1 TD every 6 quarters. JG is tearing it up!........

I know you have your uninformed opinion that JG sucks and therefore hasn’t thrown many td passes....your latest Schtick is that he throws 1 TD every 6 quarters.

Perhaps you should consider that the last 2 games, we’ve run the ball 73% of the time. We’ve thrown it 35 times and run it 94 times. Could that possibly be why we’ve got more td runs than td passes? Any reasonable fan (so then the answer for you is no) could quickly do the math and see the correlation. Kinda tough to throw a touchdown pass if you very rarely throw the ball.

Lol. You’ve been as critical of JG as anyone on this board... even predicted he’d soon be pulled in favor of Chryst after last week. So yeah, forgive my sarcasm there, given your unreasonable pessimism of one of the very few bright spots (Guarantano) we’ve seen from the team thus far.

I could actually couldn't care less if he throws TD's or leads the team to TD's handing it off or running it in. Just score points.

Yes I have and no I didn't. I said he was closer to being replaced than some of his devotees think. He has to keep coming along. I've said a couple of times that he seemed to do that in this game... and I'm not talking about him passing.

Not pessimism. Criticism. They aren't the same and I have never said that he couldn't overcome his weaknesses... only that he needed to. I never took you as one that denied he had weaknesses... but some bristle at any suggestion that he isn't perfect. k-town king for instance.

I also said that his adjustments and line calls make a difference in the run game. So he gets a lot of credit for the run game's apparent improvement this week.

I think he has the physical skills to become a great UT QB if he continues to develop the other part of his game and makes good decisions.

I gave JG credit where credit was due. He is a manageable, adequate QB. He isn't going to light up the scoreboards. Thats a fact. 1 TD ever game and a half for his collegiate career just reinforces that fact. So when people say "Why aren't we throwing this or doing that??" they need to remember we don't have an SEC/FBS quality QB. JG barely even shows up on FBS QB stats outside of completion %. Completion % doesnt win games.

No matter how much you wish upon a shining star JG's stellar completion % will never make up for his terrible scoring production. 2 TD's in 12 quarters against literally the worst defenses they will face almost all year..

Those two statements are a contradiction.

He's 6th in QBR, averaging over 10 ypa and hasn't thrown a pick. If you'd told me 2 months ago those were going to be the stats on our QB 3 games in, I'd have taken it immediately and not cared which one it was.

A number of positions have shown improvement from the 1st to 3rd game. Its just the fact they have to get the ones together who can play and then let them play together for awhile. Freshman have shown improvement for sure. I was pleasantly surprise with the center position saturday. LB's seemed to improved.
Now what shows this saturday I don't know but I do know I support each coach and member of the team. Its is nice to watch Chandler, and Banks begin to develop. Receivers seem to know where they should be this year. I haven't checked to see the percentage of pass vs rush but Helton seems to be keeping things pretty even. Helton is calling good games period !

some fade routes for Callaway and crew in the red zone? Let these talented WRs make plays! Fla has small DBs I think...toss it up and let them high point it
I’d more question the lack of TE utilization on passes, but probably need to keep them in to help right side of line?

I didn’t create this thread for certain members to spew their nonsense about JG. I just remember practice reports last week talking bout working on red zone packages. Figure with are taller WRs, you would throw a few jump balls

JG’s the last of our worries, and pleasant surprise. He may actually be able to start lighting up some folks ... if we could protect him

Your out is that you didn’t call out either quarterback, it’s all on quarterback play. Right? Regardless who is in.
UT doesnt have any SEC caliber QB's right now. The QB is the field general. Our field general is more like a DFAC prep cook who can whip together a mean scrambled egg..
