Question regarding 247 sports target list

In the list attached, the recruits are listed as either "Warm" or "Warmer"(except Evan Berry).
How much of this is accurate?

Imagine the utter joy if all of these guys committed to us. I can seriously see Butch and company putting in the work.

Go Vols !!!

247 offers nothing you can't glean by following Scout, Rivals, and ESPN without paying for "insider" stories with a question mark at the end of the headline. Actually, any info of importance winds up being discussed here about as soon as it comes out in the media, sooner when it comes out through social media.

Scout and Rivals have a long track record for actually scouting and following recruits in person. ESPN is trying to catch up with them. 247 looks like a too easy way for other media to get in on the action and generate some extra cash. Funny how our commits and targeted recruits always seem to be rated highest at 247.

Wow thats a pretty nice list. I think we honestly have a punchers chance at all of them, but realistically, I see us landing somewhere between 6-9 of those recruits.

False. 247 is run by the guys who started and made Rivals the "standard" in recruiting. IE., the guys who have the most experience actually scouting recruits.

The fact that we're at two with no games played is encouraging...if we play an exciting brand on offense and defense, we'll see even more interest with high end prospects that we previously had no shot at

247 may have been started by guys from Rivals, but they still rely much more heavily on indirect sources who may or may not be as thorough or as capable. They are still pretty hit and miss geographically, and I think lends itself to some home cooking in their rankings.

The thing that discredits you in my eyes is that you think Scout is worth anything as a recruiting service.

IMO, the order is 247 and Rivals and then a good bit further down you get ESPN and Scout

Scout is garbage. ESPN has good articles, but has almost as bad ratings.
247 is at the top with rivals. Rivals is losing all of their top guys to 247. Rivals is still a very respectable site though.

Honestly VN is a better site for info than scout. Scout=joke

I would add Poona Ford to this list, and drop Chubb. I get the feeling we lost him with graham leaving plus adding 2 backs. My favorites from this list are Malone, Bates, Mouhon, and Berry twins. I hope they all end up Vols though.

Scout's emphasis over the decades has been what it's name implies, scouting. No, Scout doesn't match the others in producing "stories" on the scuttlebutt and speculation, I see no reason to question the veracity or thoroughness of their player evaluations. Rivals, ESPN, and 247 all have skin in the game in some way (camps conducted, all star games sponsered, contracts with local media, etc.) and are less subject to hype.

Scout is stingier with their star ratings but was the only one who rated Jacquez Smith a five star. Imagine that, a Tennessee valley five star. Rivals and ESPN think every letterman from southern California, Texas, or south Florida is a four or five star player. 247 hands out stars like candy. Scout's player evaluations in my observation have been spot on and, unlike the others, first hand not subject to the filtering and promoting of reporters like Hubbs.

As for MockingVol, I am happy to be "discredited in (your) eyes," because you just argue with other people's observations without a clue of what you are talking about. At least try using evidence to support views instead of hiding behind a screen as you key in personal insults.

I'm not sure how you come up with your conclusions but Scout usually hands out way more 5 stars every year than Rivals or 247.

2014 (so far):
Scout - 24
247 - 25
Rivals - 14

2013:
Scout - 42
247 - 32
Rivals - 33

2012:
Scout - 50
247 - 25
Rivals - 32

2011:
Scout - 50
247 - 22
Rivals - 26

Didn't know I was flinging insults bud. Yes Scout's main calling is the actual scouting of the players, but that is what I take issue with. I don't care that they don't have many articles or are more "stingy" with 5 stars(though they aren't) ; IMO their scouting is subpar. Just as you said they had J. Smith as a 5 star, what has he done to make you think he is an elite enough player to be a 5 star? Scout has always given me the feeling that they look more at an individual's measurables and less at the tape.

But honestly I don't put too much faith in how sites scout anyways, there are too many recruits to thoroughly go over the tape so most recruiting sites say "this guy is hyped, he must be good". I put trust in what our coaching staff offers and what I think of the players after watching their tape. So for the most part I use those sites to check what the players are saying/feeling about us.
