In the Q&A after he was introduced, someone asked a question that was definitely a jab about something k***** had done and was trying to get some sound byte out of Dooley. He responded by just saying that's not his thing, that he's not going to worry about what other coaches are doing, and that he's only concerned with what his team is doing.

Does anyone remember what this question was?

Are you going to call the USC recruits and tell them not to go to class so they can enroll at UT

i believe it was something about calling USC recruits about not going to class or something close.

It was a pretty funny question. & I half expected him to just avoid the question all together.
But he impressed me by what he said.

I'll say it again...DD is not going to lower himself to sub-par standards as the other bunch. And some in the media better get use to it.

I don't know if Dooley has established himself as the high caliber coach that UT needs to continue its climb back to the SEC (his record is inconclusive at best), but on the character side, he will run quality program, recruit motivated good young players and respect/enhance traditions. Fans need to give him a couple of years to get through the turmoil and let him do his thing before railing on him.

BTW, while wrestling ain't football, Tom Brands did a similar thing to VT a couple of years ago and the only issue most had with him leaving for his dream job at Iowa was that he took his top recruits with him after redshirting them for a year and after driving off some decent wrestlers - pretty much leaving the team in shambles. The current coach, Kevin Dresser (also an Iowa alumnus - but a man of quality) has done a great job pulling the team back together and making it competitive. Let's hope Dooley does the same.

That's all great until after year four he is fired and having one of the worst winning percentages in UT football history.

And you know this, how? Saban was 6-6 his first year at Bama...don't think they care about that now. Kiffin was 5-15 when he came here and everyone thought he was the saviour of our football program. The point could be made that Oakland is the La Tech of the NFL and if so, then Kiffin still has fewer wins including those earned this past year with us than CDD has at LA Tech. Until you share your crystal ball with the rest of us then you just need to let him do his job and judge the product on the field.
