Question on Hamilton

When the Buffalo game this year gives Tennessee their 6th win and gets the team bowl eligible, the decision to cancel the UNC series will look very wise on everyone's part. Say what you will about the OOC schedule, but I think everyone will enjoy ANY bowl trip as opposed to a beatdown in Chapel Hill.

Also, why in the world would they be thinking about replacing the grass? We finally got rid of that hideous turf 15 or so years back, why would they even consider going back to that crap. It's not like up in the north where teams have a hard time getting the grass to grow at the end of the year.

Two reasons
1. Is rain surface
2. Recruiting. Right now they do not even really do walk throughs much less camps in Neyland. No way to do it without destroying the delicate grass.

Turf today is vastly improved over the way it used to be.

hamilton's an idiot. i don't care how much money he has raised.

1. first and foremost, he hired lane kiffin. the "cultural fit" issue isn't the problem. but, since it has been mentioned, way not to pick up on that mr. hamilton. i lot of people sweep a certain part of the kiffin era under the rug. what people usually ignore is that he had a coach he could not and did not control. kiffin ticked off everyone from the ncaa to sec to people at the university of tennessee. hamilton defended kiffin every step of the way to protect his own rear because he hired the jackass. kiffin left all on his own, which is the biggest break hamilton got in his career. imagine the trouble tennessee would be in if kiffin had stayed around, considering the athletic department did nothing to stop him, sanction him, or even shut him up. kiffin leaving tennessee was the best thing that could have happened for tennessee and they are lucky it happened. no thanks to the genius athletic director.

2. he made the hire responsible for the baseball program being in the toilet. i don't believe for a minute that the APR situation made the tennessee job toxic for a lot of top tier coaches. regardless, his choice to run the program has been disasterous.

3. how he handled the firings or bruce pearl and philip fulmer. it wasn't that they were fired, it's how they were fired. meanwhile, raleigh is still employed as of today.

4. the man can't speak to the media without saying something he shouldn't have said. he has experience in the position at this point, you figure he would have figured that part out by now.

I hate Mike Hamilton and there is nothing he can do to change that at this point. He won't hire a "home run" baseball coach. No decent proven coach wants to work for him and he is not willing to pay what it would take.

You are pretty funny.

He has raised over 500 million. Even if your absurd assertion that he had nothing to do with the 100 million is right, do you understand that prior to him coming to work for Dickey, UTAD had donations at a level that was greater than 20 million less per year?

SEC TV money, all the pro Fulmer agitators just do not seem to understand the math.

And yes, when people ask how Neyland got rebuilt, about the indoor practice facility, TBA renovations etc there is one man who deserves a lions share of the praise and the people who gave him a check will make sure he gets it.

Say whatever you want, but let's see where old Mikey is a year from now and where money donation is after he is gone. You'll soon see your hero has little influence with the people who give the money.

The man appears to be a great human being and is probably a very good bean counter, but he has soiled the reputation of our athletic programs. If he were the leader that people say he is then he would have recognized the path that the programs were taking in 2005 and fired Fulmer.

I do not credit him for the hire of Dooley since he was willing to let the reputation of the program fall into hell with the hiring of Kiffin. The only reason that Dooley is here is because they could not find anyone else at the time to take the job. Hamilton was just lucky that the no-name coach was of great character. I believe in Dooley, but he has yet to prove it on the field.

I could make better decisions with a two sided coin.

Hamilton will be AD a lot longer than most of you think. He has the support of the boosters and their opinion matter 1 million times more than a few arm chair ADs on this site.

I am no way a Hamilton at all. That said when you look at the programs, basketball first, well he had a pretty good hire with Pearl and by no fault of his own Pearl blew a perfect situation for himself. As far as football goes, once upon a time, Coach Fulmer had a solid program. He grew lazy and over confident I think and got himself fired. That's not really Hamilton's fault to be honest. He has probably done a lot better job than most of us, including myself. want to give him due credit.
