Question on Florida suspensions

After all the years of Florida dominating us, they're giving them the benefit of the doubt

Makes sense to me.

For those of you who claim that no one is OK with mediocrity... here's another example. Maybe he'll pitch in for some participation trophies to go with the champions of life rings....

This is the attitude that keeps UT from winning championships as much as anything else. If you accept anything less than championship level coaching... you are all but certain to get less than championship caliber coaching.

Players "liking" a coach does not necessarily have any bearing on whether the program is headed in the right direction or not. Lots of great coaches have been less than "likeable" Many beloved coaches... have been horrible for their programs and ultimately for the players.

You can promote the right values and still play to win championships.

Champions of life is a lot more important than winning championships.

.

Not referring to the poster you quoted, but I think the internet and social media have given fans way too close of a view of football programs. The same stuff that happens now, has always happened. The only difference is that fans get tons of information to pick apart, judge, and argue over. We, as fans, should really only worry about smack talking and cheering on Saturdays, and the W-L column. Instead we fight over everything from the type of exercises the players do, which ones we think have whatever character, on down to whether or not the coaches are scheduling the right in home visits with recruits. We have WAY to much access.

lol
That's true, it's pretty much dumping a bookmobile into the monkey cage at the zoo. They don't really know what the hell it all means, but that doesn't stop them from throwing the damn things at each other.

I think the players respect CBJ and I know most of the VFLs like what he has done in rebuilding our football program.

Florida will again be shorthanded in the personnel department, although this time it’s for the SEC opener.
Meeting with the media ahead of Saturday’s game against Tennessee in Gainesville, Jim McElwain stated there was no update on the nine players who were suspended prior to the season opener against Michigan. Such a response indicates that the suspended ones will remain that way at least through the Volunteers game.
Those sidelined are junior wide receiver Antonio Callaway, junior defensive end Keivonnis Davis, sophomore defensive lineman Richerd Desir-Jones, freshman linebacker James Houston, freshman linebacker Ventrell Miller, junior running back Jordan Scarlett, redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jordan Smith, freshman offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort and redshirt freshman wide receiver Rick Wells. The suspensions are reportedly connected to the misuse of scholarship money in general and, specifically, for making improper charges on their student IDs at the school bookstore and then selling those items for cash.

I know the players will most likely not play against the vols but are they practicing with the team while they are suspended. If they aren't practicing it would make it that much harder for them to come back in 1 day notice of not taking part in team activities for almost a month now.

I'm pretty sure they're suspended from all team activities

Suspended means no contact with the team

I also read today that one of their starting linebackers is injured and won't play

"Kylan Johnson, the Gators’ starting strongside linebacker, is expected to miss the game due to a lingering hamstring injury that has plagued him since preseason camp, according to 247Sports. Johnson was able to play in the opener against Michigan, finishing with four tackles."

We have zero reason to lose this game.

This could be a blowout either way. Because of all they have been through they could rally together and have a nothing to lose mentality and play out of their minds and wipe the floor with us.

OR, because of all they have been through the last few weeks they could come in already defeated, be totally flat, and let UT roll them up all day. Either scenario is possible.

Our record in the swamp says otherwise. We've been the "better team" several times yet returned home with the loss. This is UT...with injuries/excuses...in the swamp....will believe it when I see it.

Or they could be as bad as they looked and our team and coaches have a great game plan and beat them no matter what the circumstances are.

History tells us that the team that runs the ball better almost always wins. I like Tennessee's running game much better that Florida's. John Kelly is a beast and our OL seems to be able to at least decently run block. Also, a sputtering running game will put a lot of pressure on the UF QB.

I am sorry if this offends, but there is no reason we shouldn't win by 3 touchdowns. They literally have no playmakers on offense and their run defense is horrible. We Butch runs the ball 40-50 times with our stable of backs, we should cream them.

This is along my line of thinking. They have one guy (the Cleveland kid at WR) that will play on Sundays on the offensive side of the ball. That's about their scariest guy, and he needs a QB that can actually get him the ball.
