Question on Florida suspensions

Mcelweenie is playing head games, due to the current situation, we don't know which players we be available to play or who the starting QB will be.

If you want to call UTs palmer, callaway and George "backups" that's fine w me.

Last season we had backups playing for Sutton, JRM, and Kirkland, an All-SEC CB, an All-SEC LB, and a Freshman All-SEC LB. Their backups were Justin Martin, Cortez McDowell, and Colton Jumper. I hope that was fine by you as well.

Hoping for opposing player suspensions to hold out thru our game seems a bit weak sauce. If we beat them without the players but can't if they have them, do we really deserve the W?

The NCAA has no involvement with this criminal investigation that is on-going. If anything I would think the NCAA would say play them until proven guilty.. for sure, the NCAA is not trying to determine guilt or innocence.

From reading their board it's a criminal investigation that isn't finished and it's completely out of Mac's hands even if he wanted to play them.

I know this has been talked about so many times but just saw a story out of Gainesville that said Calloway and Scarlett could be done for year..I do not want any excuses when we WTFA Saturday....GBO

here is the story...http://www.gatorcountry.com/florida...eport-after-the-storm-for-the-florida-gators/

Good to see that ALL football fans are ridiculous as Vol fans. Gators win the East a couple of years in a row, and they are calling for the coach to be fired. Based on what a lot of "fans" on here say, if we would just win the East they would want Jones here forever.

.

Not the ones I've seen. They aren't like Vol fans. They expect to win. They believe it is their RIGHT to win. They believe it is the coach's responsibility to secure what they are ENTITLED TO and want him gone if he doesn't do it.

UF fans are upset from what I can tell that even with McElwain's two East wins, he hasn't been competitive in the CG... AND they don't like what they perceive as the quality of play and recruiting.

There aren't many Vol fans that wouldn't be pretty satisfied with Jones if he'd just won the East once. Sad that the expectations of the two fanbases are this different.

I have been a vol supporter for over 50 years, even went to school there, and seriously couldn't care less if they win a championship as long as they are competitive, and have a good program that promotes good values (e.g. Beamer VT). Butch appears to be heading in the right direction and you can tell because the players seem to like him.

those found guilty by this criminal investigation will never put on the uniform at Florida again IMO. Those found innocent will.

Keep in mind, its been over a month since any of these players have practiced or even worked out on any Florida facilities. Have not been involved in any game planning for this or any other game.

If the investigation ended today none are likely ready to play football. I would be thrilled if all 10 were cleared to play tomorrow and Florida did use them. Talk about not being ready. Would be huge advantage for Tennessee

Thank you, Sir. I am always glad when it's you that answers my question.

Gosh, that got me thinking, at the time we said,"at least our backups will get plenty of playing time, so they will be much improved for 2017."

Well that didnt exactly work out did it. I guess we gave that "extra" playing time to the wrong players altogether. Very clear now that they were already at their very limited ceiling. The extra pt helped no one i guess, last year or this year...sad. we should have played real propects like bituli, rather than placekeepers. Very very dumb in retrospect.

For those of you who claim that no one is OK with mediocrity... here's another example. Maybe he'll pitch in for some participation trophies to go with the champions of life rings....

This is the attitude that keeps UT from winning championships as much as anything else. If you accept anything less than championship level coaching... you are all but certain to get less than championship caliber coaching.

Players "liking" a coach does not necessarily have any bearing on whether the program is headed in the right direction or not. Lots of great coaches have been less than "likeable" Many beloved coaches... have been horrible for their programs and ultimately for the players.

You can promote the right values and still play to win championships.

Not referring to the poster you quoted, but I think the internet and social media have given fans way too close of a view of football programs. The same stuff that happens now, has always happened. The only difference is that fans get tons of information to pick apart, judge, and argue over. We, as fans, should really only worry about smack talking and cheering on Saturdays, and the W-L column. Instead we fight over everything from the type of exercises the players do, which ones we think have whatever character, on down to whether or not the coaches are scheduling the right in home visits with recruits. We have WAY to much access.

I don't believe anything I hear on Finebaum or SEC net until I see it with my own eyes. Florida and Alabama trot out their scrubs and give us a fight. We better be really hungry, motivated, and down right nasty-mean this weekend in the Swamp.

the coach reported that a lot of the players are not coming back for this game and they are still suspended

In his press conference earlier today, McElwain shook his head and said 'nunh-unh' when asked if there was any update on the investigation.

Later in the conference, he said "It's not a concern" when asked how much of a concern the continued absence of the suspended players was to him, in its impact on future games.

Reading a bit into his cryptic responses, it sounded to me as if he has already written all those guys off for the season. If he gets some of them back at some point, great, but he's already planning the season as if he won't.

They're certainly not playing this Saturday. None of them.
