Right, and the facilities have brought on more debt than buyouts. Buyouts are always the first thing brought up by media so they can let fans carry some of the burden. It's ridiculous.
How much money has UT invested in non-revenue sports? How much did the aquatic center cost? What about that boathouse for the rowing team? I've heard that our soccer stadium is unbelievably nice.
I'm sorry, but paying Buzz Peterson a few million isn't why we are trouble. Spending too much money on things that don't matter is much more of a reason. That coupled with bad hires in sports that do matter.
Not saying that the facilities haven't added to the debt problem...but I believe Regal donated about $5M for the building of the soccer stadium, IIRC.
Either way...staggering to hear that 'Bama has $90 - $100M in reserve, while we have $1.9M. Kind of puts things into perspective.

While I have no clue what the actual # is today, I thought the 1.9M in reserve # was back when Butch Jones was hired. Around the same time Hart got Cheek to agree to move about 18M back over to the athletic dept(which was to go to the academic side FROM the athletic dept).
I would bet they are in much better shape today then they were just a couple years ago. Hart seems to be making the right calls IMO.
