How do your guys really feel about Coach Nutt?

I'm just a little interested since most know he was in doghouse before this season.

it is easy to go from hero to zero and visa versa as a Coach. You'll see a few negative posts about CPF.... who has coached the Vols for 13 full seasons (06 is his 14th). His current record is 135-39, a 0.776 winning %. He has coached the Vols to eight 10+ winning seasons (probably will have another this year) and has won one BCS NC. With the except of last season's 5-6 record has won a min. of 8 games every season in nation's toughest football conference.

Just wonder how it feels not to be spoiled....

there is a division on this subject.

my own opinion is that the majority of the anti hdn [nutt] crowd is largely the younger population. hogville.net is a predominantly anti-hdn board. however, you can tell by the posts that many if not most of the anti crowd is the young set.

this is important because the younger guys simply do not have the proper perspective.

we came from the swc. we were dominant for three decades. in the last, however, the league had declined given its island status [all texas school save ark].

when we moved to the sec it drastically changed our entire recruting base; something that takes a long time to recover from.

i think hdn is a good coach. my biggest disappointment with him is that he allowed himself to get into a no win situation with having to hire malzahn as oc.

that never should've occured because hdn should have had an oc at all times.

we have one now. if they can win consistantly in the sec then hdn will be fine.

it is very difficult for a fan to have an accurate opinion. this is because there are so many variables that the average fan, even the fanatical, is unaware.

sometimes however, you can just tell when a person is burned out. nolan richardson is a perfect example of this.

he erupted to criticism and got fired. but the reason he was criticised in the beginning was because he just quit after winning the national championship. he slowly faded in effectiveness. then, he got arrogant.

but he quit first. then, he got fired.

i was ready for ken hatfield to go. i never liked his style of ball. he beat the bible a bit too hard for my taste.

i ramble on this to suggest that perhaps many of your crowd in criticism of cpf should carefully examine all available facets first.

I have nothing against Nutt. He has done more with less on a constant basis. Look at our program in the 1990's before Nutt...it sucked. I guess I would classify as a "Nutt Hugger"

I personally like Houston's attitude and enthusiasm. He's just not a technician.

His players do love him, though. And he has a way of getting the most out of even his weakest players.

It's like every other program, though. Head coaches are hired to be fired, but winning fixes everything.

Nutt makes some ridiculous decisions during games. His unwillingness to try anything new has driven a lot of his support away. He is too conservative. It took him over a year to let Matt Jones have any freedom with the offense. Last week at S.C. you saw what happens when he gets the 'play not to lose' mentality. We nearly lost after we switch from score mode to protect the lead mode. I could bash on his character a little but we at Hogville have agreed to a cease fire on Nutt bashing till after the game Saturday, so I will just stick to the facts.

He gets more with less than any coach in the country.

I mean hell, just look, Arkansas only has one loss.

I don't know if there is a coach in the conference that could have coached this group of Hog players to their current record.

Forgive us if that sig doesn't have much of an impact. We're still not used to people talking trash to us about basketball.

He changed it because I told him in a PM the Krispy Kreme sig made him look like a kid.

I asked him where the good strip clubs were, and he couldnt answer me because he can't get in!!!!

LOL Poor Kid, God Love Him.
