I keep reading where he is having kicks blocked in scrimmages but then I hear Dooley saying it was not his fault, it was the second unit's protection. Has the guy not gotten a shot at kicking with the first team protection? I just know the guy has a great leg and I am sure he has to be better than Lincoln. Just wondering if he has had a chance to kick with the starters yet. If not, I bet his numbers wouldn't be so bad in these scrimmages if given the chance to go with the first team.

I've wondered about that too. Seems his punting is going well, but all around the place kicking is downright scary. It's hard to hope our 2nd team field goal unit is that bad, but yeah I hope he starts doing better.

I know its early, and things more than likely WILL change, but to me so far Palardy has been the biggest disappointment in camp so far.

If our "biggest disappointment" is the 2nd team FG kicker, them maybe all of the concerns about this team are for naught

as for the prior comment...and does it really matter if the 2nd team FG protection is poor? Exactly when do we suspect this unit will take the field?

Well, DD did say that it wasn't his(MP) fault. No matter how good of a kicker you are, if you don't have blocking then nothing good will come of it. But yeah I don't understand why he is not getting a chance with the first team like Darr is. I don't see it as a disappointment on MP for the line not making it happen. I'm not crazy about lincolns ability at kicking, but in the Alabama game he needed the line to block and they didn't. But who knows

From the offense's standpoint, I don't like hearing about all these blocked kicks no matter which protection team is in. But, from the defensive side, where are all these blocks coming from ? We haven't seen much of that in long time.

haha, maybe a little harsh. BUT, your second team is a reflection of your first team no doubt. The better the second team = the better the first. It's all about depth. And we don't have any.

If you glance at the stats, yeah, fg effort by Michael has been disappointing. But don't forget he is kicking behind a porous 2nd string line and not getting the luxury of getting a chip shot or extra point in. He is expected to go right to medium range and long fg's. Not a problem when you have an established relationship with your snapper and holder and great protection - doesn't work well when those three are not in place.

I expect some changes will be seen soon on the fg units as the kicking battle heats up. So far Michael has done a good job punting, being the most consistent guy after two scrimmages. He is also kicking off well.

Be patient - that fg success just doesnt happen overnight. Once the exact pieces are in place then repitition needs to occur to get timing and confidence down. Corey Miller standing two yards in front of you when you strike the ball aint gonna work.

Lincoln tried kicking last year with a bad quadricep. I blame him and Kiffin for trying to play with the injury. I don't blame a kid for wanting to play, but if he is hurt, don't let the team down.

From what I've heard Lincoln will most likely be kicking FG from 30 - 35 yards and in, Palardy from 35 and longer as things stand right now (could change of course). I wouldn't read too much into the FG blocks in practice. The coaches are trying to build depth at all positions and 2nd and even 3rd stringers have been mixed in with the 1's on all units.

It should be a disappointment if this guy doesn't perform well. I believe he talked about himself in the third person if I remember, and he said he was good enough to play "all three roles" on a team.

No more blocked kicks!

I think that was the point of the OP--if, after signing the best FG kicker in the country, the guy we saw regularly kicking it into arses and belly buttons last year is going to be the starter, that would be disappointing.

If any one knows Palardy...that would be Coach Conrad.
