Question about Mods?

I have no issue with any mod on here.

Most are extremely cool and I wouldn't even mind going hunting with PJ sometime.

:)

But I was just curious.

Now that Vader has pulled out somne rules (which "aren't public") my curiousity is peaked even more like a cat playing with an electrical socket.

I mod in a cards league. League rules are posted on main page. No hidden or make up rules as you go along for the mods. Admin can do as he or she pleases as its their baby.

I dont know how this site rolls, but we have a reunion every year in different cities each year. Admin, mods, and league members. Always a blast.

I remember several years ago when I had first joined, my first thread got deleted. It was before the 20 post rule and I was not aware of the way the forum operated. It was not a nasty or bad thread but just contained a link to a site to allow others to watch the game. A mod promptly deleted it and sent me a PM explaining why he did so. This was not upsetting, but I greatly appreciated him taking the time to let me know why he did so, and there was no further action. I really appreciated that. I have had several interactions with a poster before he became a mod and still feel he is just as approachable. He might not listen to me now since he has gained higher status, but he is still also a standup mod for this site. That goes for all of them who donate their time to really keep this site the best out there. Freak has even responded to my PM's in the past promptly and professionally. I for one appreciate the way this place is run. Not trying to kiss up to anyone, but thanks is the least I could do for the information gained from this site in the past few years.

Where did you pull these rules from since they are not public?

It seems since there is a number before it that there are more.

They used to be stickied in the football forum, but for some unknown reason they have disappeared. I am going to ask freak about it.

You guys fail... it's "board monitors"

Anybody flirting with the idea of going tin foil helmet army, you have to start using that term.

This site is not a government institution, but is owned by Freak. He can choose what freedoms you do and do not have with regards to posting.

Serious question from someone who has generally stayed on the good side of the moderators of this forum:

If you were to compare a list of people recently suspended or with multiple posts deleted with a list of solid posters who actually contribute insight and information as opposed to "VFL!!!!!!" or "Which opponent has the worst fight song?" fluff, how closely would the lists correlate?

Evidently summer is a serious time on VN. No room for any sort of inside jokes to be had. TIA, Milo.

I think the Mods should consider having me as one of their own.

My qualifications:

1. I'm on here daily and contribute much wisdom and lulz to this site.

2. I post the best threads around, so I know what a good thread is and what threads need to be deleted.

3. Other posters think I'm awesome.

4. I have the best avatar.

5. Two (maybe 3) for 1. PoochPunt and Fyodor (and possibly another 1) for the low, low price of one quality poster.

6. Indianavol will be heavily moderated and will not continue to post nonsense as soon as the new sheriff is in town....

Of course, I have not been able to find the board rules posted anywhere public, so there is that.

Are mods allowed to just delete posts they don't like?

Seems like a post or thread would need to break a board rule before it's deleted.

Very convincing, you got my vote!

Ok, this thread is probably going to get nixed before I even hit send but here it goes.

I truly believe this site is one of the best, if not the best, forum on the internet. It offers places to talk about football, politics, and off the wall stuff.

The part I don't understand is the unspoken rule about not talking about the Mods. Most of the mods choose to interact on here with the people they are moderating. I have honestly never seen any of them throw around their power or try to uplift themselves into a different class of people on here.

But you still can't open threads about them, or mention them in a negative way, or joke around about which is your favorite mod. I find this grey line of mods choosing to interact with us but being un-nameable and not to ever be condemned a little disheartening.

In a country where we can speak freely, heckle our politcians in town hall meetings, and say what we please why are we not allowed the same freedom on here.

Why was there a need to nix my thread last night about which Mod you would like to be? We are all people on here.

Just curious. Hope this offends no one.
Pay me, and then you can say whatever you want about me.

No, that's not what I'm saying.

No one would ever have to know.

:)

um ... aren't you the mod Freak warned me about by the way? The one with the ninja star?

Howdy. Have I ever told you how much I admire you're moderating skills? Very fair and balanced. Bill O'Reilly could learn a thing or two from you. Can we be friends?
