So, as I look at the news that we stole Joe Sanders away from the likes of powerhouses Alabama St., South Alabama, and Western Kentucky, it made me wonder...has our staff since Kiffin been afraid to go after the highest ranked prospects or have we just missed every time? Now, in fairness, we have built up some solid depth and credit should be given where it is due, but it just seems like our ceiling is some 4 star recruits and a lot of "diamond in the rough, under ranked" players. All that to say, in your opinion have we MISSED or have we just been AFRAID to recruit the huge name, top of the class, immediate game changer type?

Ole DD and crew probably had enough of the Du'rick types

Missed! Big time! Coach Dooley can not get his foot in the door. Not sexy enough imho.

But he is a nice guy......(who has been forced to make some great reaches in recruiting)

Our recruiting before this year was above average. Count that with what we went through and its goes up a few more notches. We have had some good 4* the last 2/3 years and had to gamble on a few recruits but nothing serious. This year will be the toughest sale but the sky isn't falling.

It just makes sense our recruiting is going to fall off big time. When DD 1st got here he could sell playing time and getting UT back to the top of the SEC. With every loss and every recruit NOT being coached up it hurts us going forward. Recruits and their parents are just not going to keep buying the BS Dooley is selling. We have some decent depth and fewer freshman will see playing time. Less PT and more losing equates to rough times ahead in recruiting.

When opposing recruiters show the recruits clippings that demonstrate the fan base is unstable, it makes it very difficult to recruit.

Every fan base is unstable. In fact, I'm pretty sure the SEC runs away with the award for "Most Unstable Fan Bases."

I thinks it's a combination of both I think Dooley is so focus on his VFL program that he isn't looking at their potential on the field. Also tell me why a recruit wants to play for Dooley NO one besides his family respects his coaching ability. Recruits aren't blind they know a good coach when they meet him. He is not the up and comer most people believed he was.

Look they aren't committing to the fan base they either commit to the coach, program, or the school. The program and coach is so horrible that they want no part of it. Every competitor understands that when you play like crap fans have reason to be upset

Fan base??

Please name me a fanbase who is not unstable when their team is getting trucked like 42 guys named Jose' trying to get to Arizona? I don't buy the fans on amessage board have anything to do with recruiting and where a kid decides to go. Losing hurts recruiting. Not coaching players up hurt recruiting. Some random fan on a message board saying they think Dools should be fired for being 0-5 in the SEC 3 straight years is just the truth. If UT fans acted like everything was fine and losing is no big deal here, that is when a recruit may think the fanbase is a bit unstable. JMO

You forgot to mention that Indiana, Colorado, Vanderbilt, and UCF offered as well. Not that its much of an upgrade but its clear you're trying to paint a picture.

Note: He also had interest from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and South Florida.

Is everyone on this board depressed and blaming Dooley for it?

Lets be real honest. Why would anyone want to play for Tennessee right now ???

Exactlly, not eveyrone would give their left ____ to play at Tennessee beleive it or not. When Vandy and PENN STATE are ahead of you in recruiting there is a problem with your program. Before one of you say recruiting is not over just go outside and piss into the wind.

I could care less who the coach is the proof is in the pudding or w-l. We got what we paid for do a little research and take off you orange colored glasses.

Dooley broke his neck to sign Deion Bonner!

Even for you that's a scum sucking, nut-licking low blow. Bonner has not been charged and, according to police reports, is not a suspect. He had been listed as a "person of interest" but it went no further when he was questioned.

You must sign Dooley to a lifetime contract. Then he can miss on these guys all the time and it won't matter...The 3 star studs won't come without knowing Doolittle will be here to oversee the failure...

Who should we blame? Bush? Dooley's best class is the one he was left by Kiffin and it has been worse each year after.

The fact that they made the list is the problem. The picture I'm trying to paint is, are we just settling?
