Question about florida fans

Thanks everyone for your comments. I guess as long as I am cordial with them and be able to take good natured ribbing I should be fine. Plus if some florida fan starts being overly rude I can trust that the great big orange fans will have my back right? lol

I got your back homie!!!

I am going to my first Tenn/Florida game this year and I have heard nightmare stories about their fans and even though it is in Knoxville this year are they just as rude away as they are at their home?

Don't believe everything you hear.

In fact, disbelieve most of it.

Its not like Florida football fans have some special genetic trait that makes them violent or obnoxious anymore than you will find in any group of 90,000 people out for a good time. There will always be a number of drunken idiots.

Given the ratios, you are more likely to get in a tussle with one of your own fans than a Gator fan.

I hate to admit it, but I agree.

The game is in Knoxville. 90% of the people there will be Vol fans. Even so, they're no worse than plenty of other schools.

I (along with my brother, and my dad) sat in the middle of the UF section, in the lower bowl for the "No Catch" game in 2000 IIRC. There was 2 other Vol fans within rock throwing distance of our seats.

Im still here.:hi:

That year I sat in the lower bowl, Section Z near UF's band.

There is a small group of drunken, obnoxious fans in every fan base in the SEC that are the ones that give the schools the bad name. Yes--even Vanderbilt!

Florida fans might be the worst group of fans in the SEC, at least Bama fans have enough of a sense of history to actually respect the institutions they play against.

UF fans have a sense of history, we just choose to focus on the here and now, as opposed to how irrelevant we were up until about a quarter century ago.

It's as though you expect UF fans to be 100% humble and not have any pride whatsoever in our most recent accomplishments....no thanks....

Florida fans are just fine for the most part. Especially in the case of them traveling, the more mature fans are the ones that make road trips (as is generally the case for any school). I've been to Gainesville too for games and never had any trouble down there with them. Unless you just go looking for a fight then things are all good.

In Gainesville, central florida goat herders are the ugliest and most physically nasty people who ever pretended to know something about college football. Extremely rude and obnoxious to anybody in sight. Championship caliber redneck buttwipes.

Away from home, the ones who travel are the same good fans that most of them have always been-before they won their first SEC championship. Good sports, tough competitors, a pleasure to be around, and well versed in the SEC traditions.

One of my fondest memories is my first trip to Gainesville. One of their students stuck a sign in my face that read "Go Home Inbreads" . No kidding. Spelled just like that. I corrected his spelling and went right on along to the game.

I doubt the OP will have any issues with our fans in Knoxville.

We only throw urine bombs and set opposing elderly fans on fire at home games.

I am extremely disappointed our fans didn't at least attempt to eat your children.

These two posts had me in tears. Well done Gator. Well done.

I have seen several fights at Calhouns after their last few visits; usually started by frustrated Vol fans tired of having the chomp in their face. Obnoxious SOB’s.

Even their sorority girls march around after the game chomping every UT fan that they can find (not in the good way).

The good way is wayyyyy better

Leaving the Swamp last year, there wasn't much talk at all. It was almost like Florida lost because of a couple of late scores by TN. I think this year most people don't expect it to be a close game, but there is a much greater amount of respect of Dooley than there ever was for Kitten. I've been to both stadiums and there are jerks everywhere who think what the team has done is a reflection on them. We're only fans, and, it's only a game.
