Osovet is not qualified.
It seems people think Osovet invented RPO, that it is a superior weapon that only we would have if he hire Osovet. This is not the case RPO has been around a long time. Even the down field approach. RPO is just part of the offense. You still need a good offense.
No decent program hires a cc HC as OC. Botch hired people with more experience and got his clock cleaned. If Pruitt hires Osovet I will loose faith in him.
I like Osovet but he needs more experience. A year or two coaching each of the offensive positions. Receiver, oline, backs etc. during that time he learns what is important at top level. He learns to recruit the SE.
A year ago we wouldn’t hire him as receivers coach. Now OC?
I will say Osovet is an under whelming hire. So the delayed announcement fits. And, there seems to be a series of coordinated leaks/information try to convince everyone he is a guru. Then there is Doug M. Saying is 95% done. Doug then has a follow up show with a guest talking about all the successful coaches coming out of nowhere. I wold not be surprised if it is Osovet.
Huge risk for Pruitt and our program.
