I am not sure what concerns me more, the inability of Simms or Coach Dooleys unwillingness to pull him. If you look at the past three games, Simms has greatly impacted our success. If you go back and look, most of his passes are high. Simms is way out of his league. How in the Hell do we not destroy UAB? I realize that we are young, however it is not like Simms just started playing football this year. I played football from age 8 during my college years, no excuse in his performance. I will save my Wilcox discussion for a later debate, starting to question his calling as well. Hopefully my comments are coming because I am just so frustrated over our past three weeks play. Go Vols

I would agree, however I think some of the issues that we have on Defense are coming from them being on the field so long. I got that Simms just threw a TD, however there is no way that it should have come down to that throw. We a good lead coming out of half and blew it. I hope that Simms grows, just not sure. Unless our Offense stands up, the October is going to be an ugly month of football for the Vol Nation. Oh well, I still love my Vols.

Of course having a young offensive line or Poole being hurt had nothing to do with it.

I posted this in the other thread, but think it's relevent to post it again here...

I crack up at the idea of Tyler Bray getting out there with our offensive line and his blazing 5.4 40yd dash speed. :eek:lol:

I don't want to be too critical of our QB but we may be seeing some signs as to why he was not the QB for Louisville.

You do NOT know football. If you think it's Simms fault. Good grief. A VERY VERY young O-Line might have alot to do with it. Peyton Manning couldn't play behind this line. In a year or two it will be good.

simms was not the problem this week. 19/34 245 yds. had 4 bad drops I believe. plus not much of a running game to help.

simms is what you have right now. if he was to be pulled it should have been done by now. i'm not sure how smart throwing bray to the wolves just as we're beginning our brutal stretch in october is.

Why do individuals like yourself get on here an try to insult others. Just because my opinion is different than yours, it must be because I no nothing about football. I guess I received my scholorship and played qb in college because of my lack of knowledge and ability in football. It is not the O-line that over throws the receiver, nor is it the O-line that can't make the proper reads.

Simms is a conundrum; but some of his throws today were awesome. The TD toss to White Lighnting was pro-fesh-u-nal. Over two defenders and hits Lightning in stride. Simms may not be All-Anything but he was getting harrassed far too much to compete w/SEC defenses. His protection deserves inclusion in any discussion of his prefomance.

Simms was 19-34 for 244 yards, 3 TDs, and no picks. His receivers even had some drops. He did the best with what he has been given.

Simms is the the easiest to point out by position but the play today was not his fault. He probably like all QB's take too much blame and too much credit.

He was fairly efficient for the pressure he had today. Yes, a couple of his throws were high but he was also let down by his receivers on some catchable balls. The only really issue I saw with him today was holding the ball a little longer than I though was appropriate.

The O line had troubles. I think we veered away from the running game to early. We, especially with our young players, have to establish some running game and utilize the play action.

The defense had more trouble. We were getting to the quarterback but late. a soft zone in the secondary and quick swings opened up all day. It was continuous and we should have made better adjustments in the scheme.

Still....we are young and we need to chalk it up as an escape and use it as another learning tool...
